A destructive fire and blast at a gas station in Dagestan, Russia’s southern province, claimed the lives of at least 30 individuals, among them three children, and inflicted injuries on over 100 people as per local authorities and news coverage.

The blaze initiated at a car maintenance center along the highway in Dagestan’s capital, Makhachkala, situated by the Caspian Sea. Eventually, it led to explosions that reached an adjacent gas station on Monday evening, as reported by officials early the next day.

Images distributed by the ministry of emergency services demonstrated firefighters attempting to extinguish an enormous inferno as fire soared into the night’s darkness.
