There was a sudden panic among the people bathing near the Nagar Ghat in Omkareshwar on Sunday morning around nine o’clock due to the sudden rise in the water level of the river Narmada.
NHDC started the turbine for electricity production which led to the rise in the water level of the Narmada. People saw the water rising and ran towards the bank. During this time, 10 to 12 people were swimming instead of coming out, and then they got stuck as the water level of the river rose rapidly. Immediately, boatmen and fishermen arrived there to help them.
