A drunk man reportedly set a Bangladesh restaurant in New York on fire over botched up chicken biryani order. The man was reportedly miffed when he ordered chicken biryani at the restaurant, but was handed a different type of food order. The incident was reported from Ittadi Garden and Grill in Jackson Heights and occurred earlier on October 1 at New York’s Jackson Heights.
Another startling fact of the case is that the accused is back on the streets dispute the authorities spending two weeks in tracking him down and then arresting him. The accused was freed without a bail as per a New York Post report. The accused in the matter has been identified as 49-year-old Choephel Norbu.
After he was arrested, Norbu gave an account of the series of events from his perspective. “I was very drunk. I bought chicken biryani. They didn’t give me chicken biryani. I was mad, and I threw it out,” he said, as quoted by various news outlets.
The accused was caught on CCTV committing the shocking crime. The CCTV footage shows the accused lurking around the façade of the restaurant, and then pouring some flammable substance. He then bends down to light the flammable substance and gas engulfed in a giant fireball himself.

The world of food and beverage is better streamlined than ever before. Thanks to technology and efficient employees, restaurants across the world cater to innumerable people. However, due to human error that’s bound to happen, some customers often get botched up food orders. While some of these customers take the manager to task and seek a refund, others go out of their ways to take revenge.
In one such incident, a 49-year-old man in New York, who was so annoyed over his botched-up chicken biryani order, that he burnt down a Bangladeshi restaurant. The incident occurred earlier on October 1 with CCTV footage now surfacing on social media.

What Does the Video Show?
The video shows the 49-year-old accused from New York lurking around the façade of the restaurant. Suddenly, the accused pours a bucket full of inflammable substance and douses the entire area. He then gets on his knees and lights up a match stick, and sets the place on fire. Shockingly enough, the accused himself got engulfed in flame as he was standing dangerously close to the poured flammable liquid.

The accused was arrested after two weeks of tracking and investigation. Following his arrest, he gave an account of the incident. “I was very drunk. I bought chicken biryani. They didn’t give me chicken biryani. I was mad, and I threw it out,” he said.
“I bought a gas can, and I threw it at the store to try to burn it out. I lit it up, and boom, it got on me,” he added.
$1,500 of Damage
According to reports, the giant fireball caught on CCTV shattered the restaurant’s windows and damaged the air-conditioning unit, causing damages worth over $1,500. A New York Post quoted Mr Abu Numan, the owner of the restaurant saying, “People are crazy now. I have no idea why he does this.”

Accused Released Without Bail
A startling fact of the entire case is that the accused was able to come back to the streets after being arrested. he was freed without a bail after the cops put in two weeks of efforts to track him down. A Queens-based cop echoed the sentiment of his unit, and said, “He sets a store on fire, he planned this, why is he out the next day?”.
