Billionaire Elon Musk Blocks a 19 year old on Twitter. Musk has offered $5000 to stop him from tracking his private jet.
A teenager named Jack Sweeney is now in a stand alone with billionaire Elon Musk. He has been blocked by the Tesla owner on Twitter after a failed attempt of negotiation.
Sweeney has been tracking and sharing the movement of Musk’s private jet using a Twitter bot and available air traffic information. This has increased security risk for Musk.
Interestingly, Musk offered him $5000 to shut the account. However, Sweeney turned down the offer and asked for 50 thousand dollars or an internship at any one of Musk owned companies.
Musk’s Jet Tracked by Teenager
Sweeney, a college freshman at the University of Central Florida, started Elon Musk’s Jet account in June 2020. It uses bots to scrape publicly available air-traffic data, alerting followers to the movements of Musk’s private jet.

He has been working on the technology for a long time before publishing his lockdown project. In a statement made by Sweeney he said, “I had the apps where you can track planes and stuff,”, adding, “I kind of thought they were cool.”
Sweeney is one of Musk’s fans who knew he had a private jet. “I knew he had the jet, and I just knew it would reveal what business is going on and where he is going and stuff,” he said.
Musk Makes an Offer to Shut the Bot
As the account started gaining popularity, Musk’s security became a prime concern. According to Sweeney, Musk approached him in the DM and asked him to shut down the account.
“I don’t love the idea of being shot by a nutcase,” Musk wrote to the teenager.
The plea to shut this account was followed by an offer of $5000 from Musk’s side.
Sweeney also mentioned that Musk has implemented some measures recommended by him during their chat which made it harder for him to track.
Teenager Turns Down Musk’s Offer
Sweeney declined the offer made by Musk in his DMs. However, he demanded 10X in return.
The college freshman asked for $50k to shut his account. “5k is not enough” according to Sweeney- as he put a lot of time, energy and effort into building the Twitter account.
Besides, this money will help in pursuing college education or may be in buying a Tesla Model 3, said the teenager.
Musk said he’ll think about Sweeney’s offer but never followed up. The 19 year old asked for an internship in one of his companies Tesla or SpaceX but was blocked by the user a few days later.
Later, Musk revealed, “doesn’t feel right to pay to shut this down.”
What is Sweeney Upto Now?
Sweeney however is sure that he has made Musk mad. “He’ll probably be annoyed,” Sweeney told Insider, adding: “he went the opposite way of me so why wouldn’t I go the opposite way of him?”
Sweeney is currently working on his part time project with Uberjet beside the Twitter bot and his college. With experience in aviation, he helps in developing a platform for the company that generates data to fetch customers and offer tickets at a much lower price.
