Billionaire Elon Musk’s 18-year-old transgender daughter has legally filed to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form”, she said in her petition.

In April, former Xavier Alexander Musk filed the documents to the Los Angeles County superior Court in Santa Monica. However, this only came to light recently. The documents were filled out for both a name change and a new birth certificate.

Who is Vivian Jenna Wilson?

Vivian, formerly Xavier, is the daughter of Elon Musk and his former wife, Justin Wilson, a Canadian author. Musk and Wilson got married in the year 2000, before getting divorced in 2008. They have five children together.

Their first born died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks in 2002. The couple then had twin sons, Xavier and Griffin. They also had triplets later on.

Vivian Wilson also changed her gender from male to female after turning 18, the age of consent in California.

Her latest petition to drop her father’s famous last name highlights the rift between the father-daughter duo. According to her petition, she wishes to dissociate herself completely from her father. The petition, however, does not mention anything more about the soured relationship.

The next hearing to finalize the name change is scheduled for Friday.

Musk on Transgender Issues

Musk has often been vocal about transgender issues.

However, he has often been labelled as anti-gay on various occasions. He has expressed his concern with people using their own pronouns. In 2020, Musk wrote on Twitter, “Pronouns sucks”. He soon deleted the tweet. He later clarified that he supported trans people, but called the pronouns “an aesthetic nightmare”.

Also, Musk has expressed his admiration for the Republican governor of Florida, who introduced the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The bill prohibits schools from teaching students about sexual orientation and gender issues. Any teacher who flouts the rules will face a lawsuit.
