#Fact 1: Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated a total 11 times for Golden Globe Awards and has won three different times. He is the won his first Golden Globe in 2005 for his performance in ‘The Aviator’, the second one in 2014 for ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ & third for his performance in ‘The Revenant’. Apart from this, Leonardo has also been nominated 6 times for Academy Awards (Oscar) and has won an Oscar in 2016 for his role in ‘The Revenant’.
#Fact 2: Leo comes from an American-German family background. He was born on 11th November 1974 to his mother Irmelin Indenbirken who has a German background and his father George DiCaprio, who has an Italian & American background. He was the only child that the couple had, as they got divorced 1-year post his birth. Leonardo was mostly raised by his mother.
#Fact 3: Leonardo was named by his mother after the famous painter, Leonardo Da Vinci. This happened because her mother was admiring one of the paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci when she first felt Leo move. We can say that his namesake influenced his success. Leanardo says that his mother is the most loved and admired person of his life and that he is much like his mother, a person with a strong and fierce attitude. He even takes her as his date at many Hollywood events and movies.

After the success of the movie, Leonardo became a world celebrity and his charm and good looks bagged him a position on People magazine’s list of the “50 Most Beautiful People” in 1997 and 1998.

E.g. he befriended Toby Maguire (Sony’s Spiderman) on a television series set that was based on the movie Parenthood in the 1990s and both of them have stayed best friends since then. Leonardo DiCaprio is an environment, wildlife and a climate activist as well. He is an active board member of the World Wildlife Fund.
