First Trans Tea Stall of India at Guwahati Railway Station managed and operated solely by members of the transgender community, has been established by the Indian Railways. The North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) and the All Assam Transgender Association have jointly initiated the opening of the ‘Trans tea stall’.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had tweeted about the launch of the tea stall. Sharing the photos of the stall, he wrote in the caption, ‘India’s first ‘Trans Tea Stall’ on the railway platform. Guwahati Railway Station.” It can be seen in these photos that the ‘Trans Tea Stall’ is of pink colour. Along with tea, cold drinks, juices, biscuits and other items are available at the booth.

Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has described the opening of the country’s first ‘Trans Tea Stall’ at Guwahati Railway Station as progressive and transformational.

Anand Mahindra tagged Ashwini Vaishnaw, in his post.

“This one small, initiative is, in my view, as significant & transformational as your many other progressive projects. Indian railways carries over 8 billion people. And most important excludes no one. Bravo @AshwiniVaishnaw,” Anand Mahindra wrote.

The North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) aims to empower the transgender community. NEFR has plans to open more such tea stalls at other railway stations in the region.
