Here you go with a big announcement on Monday with Indian E-commerce company Flipkart joining hands with Adani Group. The reason behind the big alliance is to enhance the ability of Flipkart to serve its rapidly growing base of customers and to expand the supply chain infrastructure, said Adani Group in a statement.
As far as Adani Group is concerned, it has gone about building infrastructure across India and has a unique combination of real estate, green energy, and logistics said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer of Flipkart Group. The company is delighted to have a partnership with the Adani group that will help in strengthening the technology infrastructure.
The partnership venture will include the construction of 534,000 sq. ft. fulfilment center at the logistic hub in Mumbai by Ambani logistics company. It will be further leased to Flipkart to meet the upcoming demand for e-commerce in western India. This will further help in supporting market access to thousands of sellers and MSMEs in the region. The venture will facilitate employment and build 2500 direct and indirect jobs.
According to Krishnamurthy, the Flipkart group focuses on providing its customers with a wide range of products brought by sellers across the country, and there are enormous innovations to get the highest affordability. Further, he added the partnership with the Adani group will uphold the capabilities of Flipkart and will accelerate job opportunities in the Indian market.
The partnership venture with the Adani group is a crucial step by Flipkart as it faces rapid competition from India’s largest digital business houses – Reliance and Tata groups. The step was again necessary to deal with the competition posed by the online selling giant – Amazon.
Both the companies kept silent on the financial terms of the partnership.
Flipkart has ongoing projects that include setting up logistics hubs in Manesar in the northern region., and in the east in the Kolkata region. The company further has plans to build a center in southern India, that will be formalized soon.
In the past year, Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in Aditya Birla Fashion Ltd, and a subsidiary of Arvind fashion Ltd. to widen its lead in the online fashion industry. If we talk about the rival company-Amazon, it has the largest warehouse facility of about 580,000 square feet in Hyderabad, which is followed by other projects in line.
The establishment of a data center at AdaniConnecX’s facility in Chennai, which is the largest private cloud deployment in the country will allow Flipkart to stock data locally in India, and allow the company to command the upcoming non-personal data relations. If you are thinking what is AdaniConneX? It is an equal joint venture of Adani group and EdgeConneX to develop data centers in India. The data center has an aim to establish one gigawatt of data center capacity till the following decade.
Talking about Flipkart – Adani partnership, it will help to build the beneficial state – of – the – art infrastructure that the nation requires in the present time.
