The former chairman of Shia Waqf Board of Uttar Pradesh, Wasim Rizvi adopts Sanatan Dharma i.e. Hinduism after renouncing Islam. Rizvi had been renamed Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi. Now Rizvi will associate himself with the Tyagi community of Uttar Pradesh.
Details of the Conversion Ceremony
On 6th December, Monday Wasim Rizvi adopted Hinduism by conducting a conversion ceremony at Dasna temple in Ghaziabad. The Yagna was conducted at 10:30 in the morning by the chief priest of Dasna temple named Mahant Narasimha Ananda Saraswati. The priest chanted Vedic hymns during the yagna while Rizvi entered Hinduism after quitting Islam. At the Dasna temple, Rizvi offered milk on the Shiva Linga as per the rituals of Hinduism.

What Wasim Rizvi has to Say
At the end of the conversion ceremony, Rizvi said that Hinduism is the world’s purest religion and has qualities that no other religion has. He also stated the reason for choosing 6th December for the conversion ceremony as on that day the Babari mosque was demolished in the year 1992. He also made a statement, “I will work for Hinduism from today. The votes of Muslims never go to any party. They only cast their votes to defeat Hindus.” In a talk with the media, Rizvi said that entering Hinduism is a lifestyle change and can be adopted by legal means.
People’s Reaction to Rizvi’s Book
On 4th November Wasim Rizvi released his book with the title ‘Muhammad’. But the real controversy started on 15th November when Rizvi posted his book’s cover page on his Facebook. The cover page portrays a man with a semi-naked woman. His book also contained comments which were objectionable against Prophet Muhammad. The book was not acceptable to Muslims and some religious organizations like the All-India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB). Rizvi was issued notices by these organizations while few demanded to file FIR against him to the Uttar Pradesh government.

Other Actions of Wasim Rizvi
Wasim Rizvi also appealed to the Supreme Court for removing 26 verses of the Quran. He believes it encourages terrorism. For these reasons, Rizvi got expelled from Islam by the Muslims. Wasim Rizvi also made a statement saying he received death threats for challenging 26 verses of the Quran and publishing his book ‘Muhammad’. Rizvi also expressed his fear of not being allowed by his people for the burial of his body after his demise. Therefore, he desires to get cremated after his death as per the Hindu religion.
