In a recent interview Former Indian Idol judge and singer Sunidhi Chauhan revealed the reason behind quitting the show. After Amit Kumar criticized and left the show, Sunidhi Chauhan made her revelations about the show and its scripted concept.
The main reason for quitting
The singer and former judge of the 5th and 6th season of the reality show told in a recent interview that all the judges were asked to compulsorily praise the contestants regardless of how they really felt about their performance. This concept didn’t sit well with her and that’s why she chose to part ways away from the singing reality show.

Further in the interview she said-
“Not exactly this ki sabko karna hai but yes, we all were told to praise. That was the basic thing. And so, I couldn’t go on. I couldn’t do what they wanted and I had to part ways. Hence, today, I am not judging any reality show.”
She said that this praising tactic is to seek more attention and hold the audiences’ interest and that this is now how growth of an individual work, she said-
“I think it is done to seek attention. I think it is required to be done to hold your audience. Guess it works.”
Her experience with other reality shows
Singer Sunidhi Chauhan was the judge in Season 5 and Season 6 of Indian Idol continuously and later went on to be in the judge panel of the shows ‘The Voice’ and ‘Dil Hai Hindustani 2’ in 2015 and 2018 respectively.
She further revealed that in the other singing shows such as ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ and ‘The Voice’, she had the freedom to speak her mind and give the contestant’s constructive criticism instead of false praises and fake reviews.
She says remarking that-
“I did ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘The Voice’ and ‘Indian Idol’. I could speak the truth then. Even today i would like to say what I genuinely feel. It’s up to them whether they want to have me or not.”
Currently, Indian Idol 12 has been shifted to Daman amid the deadly Coronavirus pandemic as the shooting of films and TV shows have been kept at hold at present. The show is judged by Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya, and Vishal Dadlani.

Brief about the Amit Kumar’s statement about the show
The son of the legendary singer Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar was on the Indian Idol 12 as a special guest, in which he revealed that he agreed with the makers of the show but later he said he also wanted to stop the episodes in the middle of the filming. Like the viewers, he too didn’t like how the makers of the show decided to pay tribute to his father.
