The monsoon season in the Thane District of India has been marked with tragedy as a mother and her four-month-old baby, who were accompanied by an uncle, experienced an accident when the child slipped from the man’s arms and was swept away by the swift-flowing river. Despite the efforts of those present at the scene, the baby couldn’t be saved in time. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by the monsoon season in the regions of Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and beyond. Heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days, and reports suggest that flooding may occur by evening in Kalyan, Karjat, Mumbra, and Dombivli due to a forecast of over 100 mm of rain. Train services have already been suspended between Badlapur and Ambernath due to water-logging on the tracks.

Railway Police Initiate Search Effort

The railway police and rescue team heeded the cry for help and quickly arrived at the scene after hearing the call for assistance. They began a comprehensive search and rescue mission near the Kalyan creek and along the banks of the adjoining stream, with the goal of finding the baby and ensuring she reunited with her family unharmed.

The Rumale family and the entire community remain in a state of prayerful anticipation for the return of Yogita. Search and rescue teams are giving their utmost in their quest to locate the missing child and restore her to her family. Everyone involved is determined to keep looking until Yogita is found.

In response to the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde strongly urged citizens to avoid going out unless absolutely necessary. He also informed that rescue teams were on high alert and he had requested them to make sure that no other disasters happened.
