A fraudster was found duping film aspirants by impersonating as Rajkumar Hirani’s son on social media platforms. An FIR has been filed against the man after his racket was busted. The FIR was filed by the Andheri Police, Mumbai against man who allegedly posed as Hirani’s son and asked acting aspirants to contact him for an upcoming fake project.

The charm, glamour and fame associated to the Bollywood film industry is known to everyone. While some choose to knock the doors of filmmakers and toil hard to break into the circuit, other leverage on the popularity of film stars and filmmakers. Impersonators too have been known to lurk in Bollywood, often making profiles on social media platforms to sabotage the reputation of industry professionals or to cheat others.
One such incident is being reported from Mumbai where an impersonator created a fake social media platform of Rajkumar Hirani’s son and welcomed innocent aspiring actors to contact him for an upcoming project. After his scam was busted, the police filed an FIR against him.

Fraudster Claimed to be Kabir Hirani, Wanted Actors for ‘3 Teenage’
The incident came into the light when the noted filmmaker’s company received a report of the fake account on July 2 from a film aspirant who contacted the company by an email. As per an Indian Express report, the scammer – who claimed to be Kabir Hirani – floated a false advertising claiming that there’s a requirement for roles in an upcoming project titled ‘3 Teenage’.

Fake Rajkumar Hirani Son Promised Rs. 20 Crores
The company also said that the scammer also said that those who are interesting in pursuing the project can contact him on his Instagram profile. While the impersonation may seem harmless to some, it should be noted that the fraudster also claimed that the filmmakers will give the selected actor a sum of Rs. 20 crores.
“Urgent requirement for male and female age between 18 to 25 even freshers can apply for the same. Need a male/female model as the main lead role. Need a male/female for a negative role. DM if interested and to know about payment details @hirani.rajkumar movie name 3 teenage for auditions address mentioned in my bio. This movie will be released in theatres payment is 20 cr,”

Impersonator Adds Address of Hirani’s Office
In another instance, another aspirant wrote to the company on July 6 who said that fraudster had told her that he was Kabir Hirani, Rajkumar Hirani’s son. Further, the fraudster had even tagged the filmmaker on Instagram and gave out the company’s address on Instagram to add more credibility and further mislead the struggling acting aspirants.

Section 66C, 66D Imposed on Accused
The company on receiving multiple emails, decided to take to the Mumbai Police and report the matter. The case is now currently registered under multiple sections of the IT Act. The accused is booked under Section 66 C (Punishment for identity theft) and 66 D (Punishment for cheating by personation by using computer resource) after Dilip Desai, a manager in Hirani’s company, took to the Andheri Police station.
So far, police are still unsure as to who the culprit is and are further investigation into the motive behind the fraudulent acts.
“The cyber police team is helping in tracking down the accused and also probe is on to know how much many people have got duped”
