The Indian contingent was the biggest one compared to all the contingents sent to any Olympics before. And it was India’s best medal haul with a total 7 medals clinched. India won 1 gold medal thanks to Neeraj Chopra’s heroics, 2 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.

It’s raining love, accolades and rewards on Indian Olympians that did the country proud and clinched shiny medals. India finally surpassed its best ever medal tally – 6 medals. The athletes created a new bench mark and as a well-deserved outcome, are receiving a cash reward from state governments, and certain rewards from private organizations.

1) Neeraj Chopra
Let’s start the proceedings with our golden boy Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj brought India’s second ever independent gold medal and first ever gold medal in javelin throw. After his achievement, state governments gave him cash awards worth crores of rupees and he was also gifted an XUV 700 from Mahindra and Mahindra.

Moving on from javelin throw to weightlifting, Mirabai started India’s medal hunt in style by clinching the silver medal on the first day of the Olympics itself.
