Gaddar, the renowned balladeer and former Maoist party ideologue, passed away after a short illness at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon.

Gaddar was born Gummadi Vittal Rao in 1949 in Toopran, a town located in Medak district, India.

Gaddar, whose real identity is Gummadi Vittal Rao, passed away at Apollo Spectra Hospital in Hyderabad due to complications from lung and urinary illness along with his advanced age. Prior to his hospitalization on July 20, Gaddar had been suffering from a severe heart condition. On August 3, he underwent a bypass operation and recovery appeared to be successful.

Union minister G Kishan Reddy, Telangana’s BJP president and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, joined multiple other leaders in expressing their grief regarding the recent passing of the singer.
