A woman in Germany was recently jailed for attempted manslaughter after she turned the ventilator of her roommate twice, all because she was “annoyed” by its sound. The shocking incident was reported from Mannheim, Germany, and occurred earlier on Tuesday this week. As per the cops, the woman turned the ventilator twice, despite being told that the machine was essential for the patient’s survival.

A press release shared by Mannheim public prosecutor’s office and Mannheim police stated that the 72-year-old accused was “feeling disturbed” by the noise coming from the patient’s ventilator. “A 72-year-old woman who was accommodated in a hospital in Mannheim is strongly suspected of having switched off the main switch of the oxygen device of her 79-year-old fellow patient on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, although she was dependent on the mechanical oxygen supply,” the release read.

“…the 72-year-old is said to have switched off the device at an unspecified time before 8:00 p.m. after feeling disturbed by the noise coming from the oxygen device,” the release further read.

Meanwhile, the 79-year-old patient, who was left without a ventilator for a while, was revived. Although life is not in danger anymore, she is still requiring intensive care.

Meanwhile, the 79-year-old woman was produced before a court, and sent to jail.

German Woman Crosses All Lengths

A German woman recently crossed all lengths to avoid the irritating sound of the ventilator, and turned the device off twice when it was connected to her 79-year-old roommate. The incident was reported from Germany’s Mannheim and occurred earlier on Tuesday this week.

The matter came to the fore after the Mannheim police department and Mannheim prosecutor’s office issued a press release regarding the incident.

Switching Off Ventilator, Not Once but Twice

As per the press release, the 72-year-old accused woman had been accommodating in a hospital with another 79-year-old woman who was on a ventilator support. The press release further added that the woman switched off the ventilator sometime before 8 pm after feeling “disturbed by the noise coming from the oxygen device”.

The woman was told by the hospital staff that the oxygen supply was essential for the patient she was in the room with. However, despite being warned and informed, the woman switched off the ventilator sometime around 9 pm.

“As a result, the 79-year-old patient required resuscitation. The woman is now out of danger, but still needs intensive care,” the release further read.

Arrest Warrant Issued, Woman Sent to Correctional Facility

After the authorities were informed, the public prosecutor’s office issued an arrest warrant against the 72-year-old accused woman. She was produced before an investigating judge of the district court, and was taken to a correctional facility.

More details are awaited in the matter, as the authorities added that an investigation is currently on with the 72-year-old being arrested for the attempted manslaughter.
