In a distressing development coming from Greater Noida, a Swiggy delivery boy murdered a restaurant owner over food delivery delay tiff. The food delivery boy that’s currently on the run allegedly shot the restaurant owner dead on September 1, Wednesday.
The incident comes at a time when reports of delivery executives across India have been reported on being on the receiving and inflicting end of criminal activities.

Indian foodies have been receiving the bounties of convenient food deliveries thanks to platforms like Swiggy and Zomato. On the other hand, restaurant owners are able to expand their business by catering to patrons who take to their restaurants in person and patrons who might by sitting far away. And the gap is bridged by delivery executives dressed in reds and oranges.
But what happens when all hell breaks loose and a food delivery executive attacks the restaurant owner himself?

The Facts of the Matter
The answer was found out today when a food delivery agent working for Swiggy allegedly shot the owner of a restaurant dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida.
According to reports, the food delivery boy had an argument with the restaurant owner over an order delay and ended up shooting the owner. A case has been registered against the delivery boy who’s currently on the run and the police are investigating the CCTV footage gathered from the nearby region to nab the accused.
The Crime – As It Happened
At around 12:15 AM on Wednesday, a Swiggy delivery boy reached a restaurant located inside Mitra, a residential complex in Greater Noida. According to reports, the Swiggy delivery boy had taken to the restaurant to collect two orders – one of a chicken biryani and a puri sabzi.
The delivery boy received a chicken biryani and a worker at the restaurant asked the delivery boy to wait for the puri sabzi as it would take some more time.

Heated Argument Turns Violent
It was then that the delivery agent started having a heated argument with the worker who asked him to wait. Taking heed to the raised voices and argument outside, restaurant owner Sunil (38 years) tried to intervene to settle the argument peacefully.
The argument took a violent turn and it is alleged that the delivery boy, who was accompanied by his friend, shot Narayan.
Restaurant Workers Take Owner to Hospital
The workers at the restaurant took the victim to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead. An NDTV report quoted Rakesh who was called by the restaurant staff as he lived near the restaurant. “I was called (by the restaurant staff) to say their owner was shot. When I reached, he was still breathing. I first dialed 100 and then for an ambulance. But later, we took him to hospital in our vehicle,” he said.
Police Investigating CCTV Footage, 3 Teams Formed to Nab Accused
Meanwhile, the police have registered a complaint against the accused on the run. A police officer involved in the matter was reported claiming that 3 teams have already been formed to nab the accused.

Swiggy Delivery Boys and Infamous Criminal Activities
It should be noted that this was not the first time Swiggy delivery boys were involved in criminal activities this year. Earlier in March this year, 2 Swiggy delivery boys were arrested by the Noida police for breaking into the homes in Noida and stealing valuables.
Reportedly, the police arrested the two men who had incriminating evidences in their possession including tools that they used to break into homes, an expensive watch, an expensive television and a motorcycle bought from money stolen from the homes.
