In a heartbreaking video gone viral a liquor addict was seen being savagely thrashed to death at a de-addiction center in Gujarat’s Patan. While the incident was initially reported as the death of a liquor addict, further investigation in the matter revealed that the incident was a cold-blooded murder carried out by staff at the de-addiction facility. The deceased in the matter was identified as Suthar and the horrific thrashing, which lasted for over 90 minutes, took place earlier on February 17.
According to the police, Suthar went to the bathroom and tried to slit his wrist. In response, Sandeep Patel and seven to eight other people tied his hands and legs and brutally thrashed him with a thick plastic pipe for nearly two hours. Two of them even burnt a portion of the pipe with a lighter and poured the hot liquid on Suthar’s private parts, burning his pubic hair.
Following Suthar’s death, the accused group of men cremated his body, telling the relatives that he had died a natural death caused by a sudden and drastic fall in blood pressure. The primary accused in the matter has been identified as Sandeep Patel, who committed the heinous act with seven to eight other men.
What makes the incident even more concerning is that there are as many as 20-25 patients residing at the facility.
The Facts of the Matter
A young man named Hardik Suthar who was undergoing treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, died earlier in February in a Patan based de-addiction center. In an investigation that followed, it was revealed that Suthar died after succumbing the horrific torture subjected to him by Sandeep Patel and seven-eight other people at the facility.
The ordeal lasted for 90 minutes, with Suthar eventually succumbing to his injuries. The audacity of the accused was such that not only did they killed Suthar, but lied to his family that he died due to cardiac arrest.
The lid was off the entire matter after the cops analyzed the CCTV footage from the night of the incident. The footage has since been making rounds on Twitter.

Accused Burnt Suthar’s Private Parts, Thrashed him with Pipe
On February 17th, Suthar attempted to slit his wrist in the bathroom, and the manager of the center, Sandeep Patel, along with seven or eight others, subjected him to brutal torture that lasted almost two hours. They tied Suthar’s hands and legs and brutally thrashed him with a thick plastic pipe.
They also burned a portion of the pipe with a lighter and poured the hot liquid on Suthar’s private parts, causing him to suffer severe burns.
Facility Staffer Lied to Family About Suthar’s Death
In the wake of the horrific torture, Suthar eventually succumbed to his injuries, and his body was cremated by Patel and his accomplices. To cover up the crime, they lied to Suthar’s relatives, telling them that he had died of a sudden and drastic fall in blood pressure.
After the truth was uncovered, Sandeep Patel and seven others were arrested for their involvement in the crime.
Motive of the Accused’s Heinous Act
As per a TOI report, it was discovered that Sandeep Patel carried out the horrific crime to establish his hold on the facility. They also warned other patients at the center that they would meet the same fate as Suthar if they threw tantrums or attempted to harm themselves like Suthar did.
The inhumanity of the accused was such that they even attended Suthar’s cremation ceremony with his family and remained at the crematorium for the final rites. As per reports, there are as many as 25-25 patients in the de-addiction center, which has been in operation for the last 9 months.
