In Gujarat’s Navsari district, a newly married man and his nephew were badly injured when one of his wedding gifts exploded. As per a local villager, the groom, Latesh Gavit, wedded Salma on May 12. They had received gifts from relatives and acquaintances, including Salma’s elder sister’s ex-boyfriend. In association with the case, Raju Patel and his helper Manoj have been arrested.

Latesh Gavit of Mindhabari village reportedly married a girl from Gangapur village in Navsari district’s Vansda taluka. Latesh was supposedly unwrapping gifts on Tuesday when one of them exploded, causing injuries to his eyes and chopping his left wrist. He has substantial injuries all over his upper body. The tragedy also harmed Latesh’s nephew, Jian, who is three years old. Both were transported to the Navsari government hospital for treatment.
The bride’s parents informed the Gavit family that Raju Patel, a villager of Koyamba, had presented the toy to the bride. He had an affair with the bride’s elder sister Jagruti and they were dating until recently.
Accused Provided the Gift to Take the Revenge
Surat Range Inspector General of Police, Dr. S Rajkumar Pandian stated, that there have been claims of a bomb in a gift like a teddy bear near the Mindhabari area in Vansada. He further remarked, “Raju had packed the bomb for Jagruti’s death. Through a friend, he handed the present to Jagruti. However, Jagruti presented the gift to her sister’s husband for their marriage by mistake.”
