Dharmesh Parmar, AKA MC Tod Fod, who wrote a verse for ‘India 91’ for Gully Boy, left for the heavenly adobe. He was merely 24 years old. The news was shared by the Mumbai-based hip-hop group Swadesi. Tod Fod was associated with the said group. The cause of the death remains unknown.
The untimely demise of the budding rapper has sent a wave of grief across the film fraternity as well as his admirers. Ranveer Singh, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Zoya Akhtar, among others, mourned the death on social media.
Facts of the Matter
The official Instagram handle of Swadesi broke the unfortunate news. Sharing a clip from Tod God’s last performance, it wrote, “It was with this night that Tod Fod performed his last ever gig at Swadesi Mela. You had to be there to experience it, his thrill his love for playing live music. You are never forgotten, you will always love through your music… gather around his house at 2 pm on the 21st of March at the following address for his last rites.”

Swadesi is a Mumbai-based hip-hop group that was formed in 2013. Tod Fod was associated with the group. As a part of this group, Tod Fod performed with MC Mawali, producers NaaR and Raakshas. His lines to the song ‘The Warli Revolt’ were very much liked by the audience.

In the year 2019, Tod Fod got a call to be a part of Zoya Akhtar’s popular movie, Gully Boy. Swadesi and a host of other Indian hip-hop artistes were associated with the film.

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, sharing an Instagram story, mourned the death of the Gujarati rapper. He shared a picture of Tod Fod along with a broken-heart emoticon.
Siddhant Chaturvedi, too, took to Instagram to express his condolences. He shared a screenshot in which both the stars could be seen praising each other’s work. He captioned the post, “RIP bhai” along with a broken-heart emoticon.
Director Zoya Akhter penned an emotional tribute. “You have gone too soon. I can only be grateful our paths crossed. Rest in peace, Bantai,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing a throwback pic.

Update: MC Tod Fod Died Due to Heart Attack, Suffered 2 Attacks in 4 Months
A day after the news of rapper MC Tod Fod’s demise emerge, a new Dainik Bhaskar report has shed the light on the cause of death of the young rapper. The 24-year-old rapper’s mother recently spoke to the Hindi dialy where she revealed that her son passed away due to a heart attack while he was on a work-related trip in Nashik. She further revealed that MC Tod Fod had suffered two heart attacks in the last four months and also underwent a surgery for the same.
