‘Home Alone’ Actor Devin Ratray Accused of Rape in NYC, Was Accused of Domestic Violence

‘Home Alone’ actor Devin Ratray, who reportedly played Kevin’s brother Buzz in Home Alone has been accused of raping a woman in NYC. Incidentally, Devin was also accused of domestic violence earlier in an unrelated incident. Ratray, who played the mean brother of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin, has been alleged of raping his friend and has denied the allegations hurled against him.

The popular franchise actor has been accused of attacking his friend Lisa Smith at his Manhattan based apartment about five years ago. Lisa alleged that her 45-year-old friend drugged her and sexually assaulted her.

Meanwhile, Kevin has denied all the allegations leveled against him and told New York Post that he “did not have sex” with Lisa smith. According to Lisa Smith, her case was not investigated appropriately after she filed a complaint. As per a CNN report, the case got cold after the police presumed that Lisa never wanted to press charges against the ‘Home Alone’ actor.

Following the revelation, the New York Police Department issued a statement which read – “The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors.”

Devin Ratray, who played the character of Buzz in popular home-invasion franchise ‘Home Alone’ marked a remarkable presence in the franchise. Now the actor is in the scrutiny for allegedly raping his friend at his NYC apartment. The alleged victim in the incident is Lisa Smith, who alleged that Devin raped her in 2017.

Alleged Victim was Friends with Devin for 15 Yrs

According to a CNN report, Lisa Smith and Devin Ratray had been friends for 15 years. On September 21, 2017, Lisa met her brother, Ratray and his friend at a bar. The group then proceeded to have drinks at Ratray’s apartment.

Lisa alleged that Ratray drugged her and then encouraged her to stay the night at his apartment. She alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Ratray for what felt like “an eternity”.

Complaint was Filed, Case was Closed

It should be noted that Lisa filed a police report against Ratray earlier in 2017. However, the case was closed. It was Ratray’s arrest in a domestic violence case in December 2021 which prompted Lisa to reach out to the authorities to figure out why the case was not investigated. The police meanwhile presumed that Lisa didn’t want to press charges against Ratray, and hence the case was closed.

NYPD Issues Statement

It should be noted that Ratray is facing domestic violence charges in an unrelated incident involving his then-girlfriend. Much like the rape allegations hurled against him, Ratray pleaded not guilty in the domestic violence case as well. “The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors.”

It should be noted that Devin is not the only ‘Home Alone’ actor accused of towing the line with law-enforcement. Macaulay Culkin who played the central character in the franchise was arrested for possession of marijuana and two other controlled substances. After briefly serving jail time, he was released.
