“New Era of Citizen Convenience”- Vaccine Slot Booking via WhatsApp

To add further convenience to Indian citizens for vaccine slots, the MoHFW (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) has now worked with WhatsApp to integrate a chat bot, which will let one book vaccine slots through the messaging platform itself.

Recently appointed Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter and announced, “Paving a new era of citizen convenience. Now, book COVID-19 vaccine slots easily on your phone within minutes.”

Not only Mandaviya, but WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart too took to Twitter and shared a similar announcement. “Today we’re partnering with @MoHFW_INDIA and @mygovindia to enable people to make their vaccine appointments via WhatsApp. Spread the word.”

How to Book COVID-19 Vaccine Slots Through WhatsApp

Step 1: Save the number 9013151515 in your phone’s directory and refresh your WhatsApp contact list.

Step 2: Go to the contact you saved in WhatsApp and type the message “Book Slot” and hit send. You will receive a 6-digit OTP as a text message.

Step 3: Send the OTP in the chat. If you’ve successfully done so, the chatbot will show the names of individuals you have registered on the CoWin platform with the particular number.

Step 4: Type the number of the person for whom you want to book a slot. You will receive their previous vaccination details.

Step 5: In the next message, tap on “Search by Pincode”. You will be asked if you want to look for a vaccination slot for free or paid.

Step 6: Enter the area’s pin code. If slots are available, you will be able to choose the date and location of your preference.

Over 3 Million Have Downloaded Vaccination Certificate via WhatsApp

It should be noted that users can avail the benefit of this chatbot for not only booking vaccine slots, but also to download their vaccination certificate. WhatsApp CEO Will in on of his tweets wrote, “If you’ve already been vaccinated, you can also download your vaccine certificate on the same helpline. Over 3m people have done so this month. Thanks.”

Step 1: Save the number 9013151515 in your phone’s directory and refresh your WhatsApp contact list.

Step 2: Type the message ‘covid certificate’ and send it to the saved number. You will receive an OTP as a text message.

Step 3: Enter the OTP, hit send.
