A couple reached the police station in their car and surrendered themselves as murderers. This sensational event took place in the Katara Hills locality of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, where two neighbours who fell in love with each other resorted to violence to officiate their affair. The husband of the woman was brutally hammered in an attempt to disfigure his identity after he was sedated with sleeping pills mixed in his drink.
Police found the body of the man in the Sedan car’s trunk, stuffed inside a sack with the head wrapped in a plastic bag. The duo is now in custody.
Being Neighbours in an Apartment
According to ASP Rajesh Singh Bhadauriya, the victim, Dhanraaj Meena hailed from Sehore district and was an affluent farmer who was also involved in the agricultural equipment business. He was living in a flat on the second floor of an apartment in the Sagar Golden Palm Colony with his wife, who’s a doctor, a 14-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter and his elder brother’s daughter as well. He married Sangeeta in 2006.
Ashish Pandeya has been living on the same floor as the family since 2014, with his wife and a minor daughter.

Development of the Affair
The neighbours were in contact always but during the lockdown, they got even closer. During this time, Ashish and Sangeeta fell in love with each other. Dhanraj suspected the two 7-8 months ago. They were even caught red-handed when the two were sitting in his house in his absence when the children went out to play. The couple even had recurring arguments about the issue as well.
Chalking Out of the Plan
Due to such regular conflicts, Sangeeta decided to murder Dhanraj with Ashish. They chalked out a plan to kill Dhanraaj silently. She mixed sleeping pills in his “Kadha” which he drank before going to sleep. On the other hand, Ashish left his house informing him he has a night shift and came back to Sangeeta’s place to perform the murder.

The Execution
When the children were asleep with Dhanraaj’s niece and Dhanraaj himself was sedated because of that drink, the execution began. Between 2 am to 3 am, they smashed the victim’s face multiple times with a hammer and a stick to conceal his identity. His legs were tied and strangled.
They stuffed his body inside a sack and left the colony in a car at around 8 am in morning. They tried to dispose of the body in the outskirts of the city. They roamed around the forests outside the city, only to give up at the end.
The Confession
As they were trying to dispose of the body, the duo realized the massacre that they had committed. It was clear by then that they would get caught anyway. Hence they decided to head straight to the police station and surrender. The culprits reached Katara Hills Police Station at 3 pm that day and confessed everything to the cops, revealing the body in the trunk.

Police Investigation
As the couple confessed their deed, the staff at the police station checked the trunk to find the dead body in the pool of blood.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP), Zone-II, Rajesh Singh Bhadauriya said, “We have taken the duo into custody and investigation is on”. “The duo had shifted to Sagar Golden Palm Colony in 2014. Pandey and Meena’s wife were in a relationship. As Meena was raising objections, they killed him,” added.
