In a tragic turn-of-events, a Swiggy delivery agent from Hyderabad, who fell off from the 3rd floor of a building in a desperate bid to save himself from a dog, succumbed to his injuries and died. The deceased victim, identified as Mohammed Rizwan, died earlier on Saturday after succumbing to his injuries at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital. The police have filed a negligence case against the dog owner.
The shocking incident took place earlier on Wednesday when the 23-year-old was at Banjara Hills, out for his job. Rizwan was gone to an apartment building to deliver food when he was cornered by a German Shephard. Out of fear, Rizwan tried to run away from the pet dog and in a desperate bid to save himself, jumped form the third floor to sustain injuries that were fatal.
According to reports, the dog was not leashed when Rizwan stood outside the apartment. Frantically trying to escape, the 23-year-old jumped over the holding of the railing and since his hands slipped, he fell to the ground floor.
Initially, a case of endangering life was filed against the dog owner. After Rizwan died, the police have filed a case under Section 304 pertaining to death by negligence.
The Facts of the Matter
Who’s worse? An untrained pet dog or a pet owner that has never bother to train it? The country is currently debating with this conundrum after several reports of pet dogs biting or lunging at people have surfaced, with several such cases ending with massive injuries and even death.
In one such incident, a Swiggy delivery agent recently died after succumbing to injuries he endured as he fell from the 3rd floor of a building to save himself from a pet dog coming after him.

Agent was Out to Deliver Parcel
The delivery agent has been identified as 23-year-old Mohammed Rizwan.
Earlier on Wednesday last week, Rizwan, a resident of Sriram Nagar in Yousufguda area, Hyderabad, had gone to deliver a parcel. The delivery agent was delivering a parcel at an apartment on the third floor of Lumbini Rock Castle apartment.
German Shephard was Not on Leash
As he knocked the door, a German Shephard came running towards him and lunged at him. The pet dog was not put on leash and in a territorial move, started lunging at Rizwan. Paralyzed with fear, Rizwan started backing off immediately and in a desperate move to save himself, jumped over the railing fence.
Unfortunately, his hands slipped and he fell from the 3rd floor to the ground floor, sustaining severe injuries. A flat owner called the ambulance and Rizwan was rushed to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital. Three days after sustaining the injuries, the 23-year-old succumbed to them and died.
Complaint Filed, FIR Registered
Based on Rizwan’s brother’s compliant, the Banjara Hills police registered an FIR against the pet-dog owner. The owner was charged with Section 336 (endangering life) of the IPC. However, after his passing the police have changed the charges to Section 304 A (causing death by negligence). The dog owner has been identified as Shobana.

Pet Owner Never Paid for Rizwan’s Bills
Meanwhile, Rizwan’s relatives have alleged that the pet owner never paid for his medical bills and remained elusive.
Further, Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) alleged that Swiggy neither reached out to them, nor acknowledged his passing.
