Muzaffarpur, Bihar, October 2, 2024: An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, today while conducting flood relief operations. The incident occurred amidst the severe flooding that has gripped the state, affecting over 11 lakh people.

Technical Glitch Leads to Emergency Landing

The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) was returning from Darbhanga after delivering essential supplies to flood-affected areas when it encountered a technical issue. A broken blade prompted the pilot to make an emergency landing in a water-logged area of Aurai block.

Safe Rescue of Occupants

Despite the challenging circumstances, all four occupants of the helicopter, including two pilots, were safely rescued by local residents before officials arrived on the scene. While they appeared unharmed, they were taken to a local hospital for precautionary checks.

Ongoing Flood Relief Efforts

The IAF has been actively involved in flood relief operations in Bihar, air-dropping food packets and other essential supplies to affected areas. This incident underscores the risks and challenges faced by rescue teams during such disasters.
