In a surprising turn-of-events, IAS topper Tina Dabi will be tying the knot once gain shortly. The news comes after she announced her engagement with IAS officer Pradeep Gawande. For the unversed, Tina Dabi in 2021 got divorced to another fellow IAS topper Athar Khan.

The two were lauded as symbol of communal harmony prior to their separation. The two were also part of the ‘Love-Jihad’ controversy after right-wing outfits expressed their issues with the couple’s union. The couple’s union was term as ‘love-jihad’, a term which popularized the notion of Muslim men luring Hindu women and forcing them into converting into Islam after getting married.

Meanwhile, Pradeep Gawande is Tina Dabi’s senior who cracked the Union Public Service Commission exams back in 2013. He’s also a qualified doctor and currently posted as Director of archaeology and museums in the state. Reportedly, Tina and Pradeep will be tying the knot on April 22 in Jaipur.

The Facts of the Matter

Indian Administrative Service officer Tina Dabi, who once became an inspiration for being the first ever Dalit person to top the UPSC exam is all set to tie the knot once again. The 28-year-old IAS officer, who topped the exam in 2016 in her first attempt recently got engaged to Dr. Pradeep Gawande another fellow IAS officer.

Tina Dabi Gets Engaged to Dr. Pradeep Gawande

The news of her engagement comes just a year after her divorce with Athar Aamir Khan, another UPSC topper who belongs to Kashmir. Their marriage was lauded for being the symbol of communal harmony. On Monday, Dabi took to Instagram and shared a picture of her and Gawande. Dabi wore a red coloured saree and Gawande wore a matching red coloured kurta. “I’m wearing the smile you gave me #fiance”, she wrote, as the caption of the announcement picture.

Gawande also took to Instagram and shared pictures of their apparent engagement. “Together, is my favourite place to be!” he captioned the image.

Who is Dr. Pradeep Gawande?

According to Mr. Gawande’s Instagram bio, he’s an IAS officer from the 2013 batch from the Rajasthan cadre. He’s currently posted as the Director of Archeology & Museaum, Rajasthan. A qualified doctor, he’s believed to be 13 years older to Tina Dabi. According to a Live Hindustan report, the couple is scheduled to get married in April 2022 in Rajasthan.

Second Marriage for Tina Dabi

This would be Tina’s second marriage. Earlier, she was married to another fellow IAS officer Athar Aamir Khan. Back in 2016, the couple was under the limelight after Dabi announced her relationship with Khan through a social media post.

Tina and Athar Khan’s Union

Tina and Athar’s union was looked as the perfect union of high-value individuals. While Tina Dabi secured first position in the UPSC exam, Athar Aamir Khan secured the second position. Their achievement was larger in the context of Indian context of community progress. Tina Dabi became the first ever Dalit person who cleared the exam while Athar became an inspiration to Kashmiris who wanted to get into Indian administrative services.

The Big Fat Wedding and Eventual Divorce

The couple got married earlier on April 7, 2018 at Pahalgam. Their wedding reception was a high-profile affair which involved Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, several union ministers and the then Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Two years into their marriage, reports of all not being well between them started emerging. The speculation intensified in 2020 when Tina removed the last name ‘Khan’ from her social media accounts. Later, it was confirmed that Dabi and Khan had taken to the Jaipur family court to sought a divorce citing mutual consent.
