Since its inception, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are not only known for providing excellent academic nurturing to its engineering students with its exceptional faculties but also for being the gateway university to the most coveted tech companies and startups.
Each year, the premier technology institute opens its gates for numerous global tech companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Intel, etc.
But due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has stalled the lives of individuals and organizations alike, it was assumed that the placement offers at IIT too would see a strong dip. Proving all assumptions wrong though, IIT beat the pandemic blues and got record-breaking job offers and packages going as high as one crore rupees.
Today, let’s celebrate the university’s prowess by taking a look at the companies that offered IIT graduates a package of more than 1 crore rupees:
- Optiver
World-renowned trading firm based in Amsterdam Optiver has an army of bright minds that create strategies and deploy technology to make the markets more transparent, fair, and efficient. This year, the company made offers worth 157,000 euros per annum(roughly around Rs. 1,41,19,167) to seven IIT Bombay graduates.
2. Sony
If you ask any Indian to name a tech megacorporation, Sony would be one of the first few names that they would come up with. The Japanese conglomerate has its fingers in anything tech: from electronic products like television to video games to media houses, Sony does it all, and does it great. It’s no wonder then that the tech giant offered a package of more than Rs. 1 crore to the students of IIT-Bombay and IIT-Kharagpur.
3. Ally.io
Ally.io is a USA based SaaS startup that helps businesses across the world with their goal-planning and execution management tools. A name fairly unheard of, Ally was nominated for Startup of the year in 2019 by Geekwire, a popular tech and startup website in the USA. The company made a mouthwatering offer of $1,40,000(roughly Rs. 1,03,23,740) to an IIT graduate.
4. Cohesity
An “all-things-data” company, Cohesity is based in USA and is known for developing software that allows IT professionals to manage and gain insight from their data. Again, it should not come off as a massive surprise to anyone that the company brought young blood to its team and made an offer of $2,00,000(roughly Rs, 1,47,51,540.
5. Samsung
Over the course of this decade, Samsung has been at the forefront of innovation in the world of technology. From its consumer products to its engineering verticals, Samsung has made its mark everywhere. This year, Samsung reportedly made 18 job offers this year across the different IITs all with the packages well above Rs. 1 crore.
