Riding high his magnificent performance in the Ind VS Aus Test 1, man of the match Ravindra Jadeja was slammed back to the earth and fined by ICC for applying cream without the umpire’s consent. Jadeja, who was earlier alleged of ball tampering by various Australian media outlets, was fined 25% of his match fee for applying a soothing cream without taking the umpire’s permission during the first day of the first Test between India VS Australia in the ongoing Border Gavaskar trophy.
“Ravindra Jadeja was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to displaying conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game. In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record. This was his first offence in a 24-month period,” the ICC’s website read.
“Article 2.20 is intended to cover all types of conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game and which is not specifically and adequately covered by the specific offences set out elsewhere in this Code of Conduct”, the ICC’s Code of Conduct reads.
Meanwhile, India steam rolled past Australia in the first Test, defeating the guests by a margin of an inning and 132 runs.
