The eighth day of competition at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China saw India grab more medals across several sports on Sunday. Indian shooters clinched two golds, one silver and a bronze. Star golfer Aditi Ashok kept India’s hopes alive by bagging silver in the women’s individual golf event.

Shooters Add to Medal Haul

The men’s trap team of Kynan Chenai, Zoravar Sandhu and Prithviraj Tondaiman took gold with 361 points. Chenai and Sandhu also qualified for the men’s trap individual final. In women’s trap team, Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak and Rajeshwari Kumari got silver. Keer made the individual final as well.

Aditi Ashok Settles for Golf Silver

Aditi Ashok could not hold on to her overnight lead in women’s individual golf, settling for silver as Thailand’s Yubol Arpichaya overtook her on the final day. In the team event, India finished fourth.

Other Notable Results

Heptathletes Swapna Barman and Nandini Agasara are in medal contention. Sprinter Amlan Borgohain qualified for the men’s 200m final. The women’s hockey team takes on South Korea next. Star boxer Nikhat Zareen has assured herself of at least a bronze in the semifinals later today.

Overall, India climbed to fourth position in the medal tally with an impressive 11 golds, 16 silvers and 14 bronzes.
