There is no such game which has a sensation amongst Indians as good as cricket. Well, it seems this fact may be changed soon because Indian footballers have started to put their names on international score-boards. Yesterday Indian Football team played a match with the Asian Football Champions team Qatar. However, it was not a normal match and Indian footballers rewrote the history of Indian sports with their kicks and defences in the match.
The match was played in Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club, Doha (Qatar). It was a world cup qualifiers match. The Qatar football team is one of the best football teams and has recently won the Asia Cup. However, the continental champions were given a tough competition by the Indian Kinksters. The match was so played so crucially that it ended in a draw at 0-0 score.
Even though India did not win the match but they did not lose it either to the Asian Champions. Football enthusiasts will cherish this day for years to come. The Indian football team managed to keep the Qataris from scoring even a single goal. They kept fighting up till the last 60 seconds which are being considered as the most crucial part of the whole match. This has helped Indian Football team to bag their first point in the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers
The main point of amazement is that Sunil Chettri, who is the star player of the Indian team was not playing for yesterday’s match. Hence, Indian Ace goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was given the responsibility of leading the team as Captain for the game. To everyone’s surprise, he was amazing at his job. Gurpreet used his gaming strategy and skills to exhibit excellent captainship and performed magnificently at the game. He did not allow the Qatar football team to even make a single goal.
“I am extremely proud of our team and the way we fought till the last minute to pull off a brilliant performance against the Asian Champions Team. Efforts of the team helped us achieve fabulous results, and it is going to help us a lot in the qualifiers and future matches,” said Sandhu after the match.
He also added “Everyone played their heart out on the field and gave everything. This is what made it possible to return to the dressing room with a smile on all of our faces.”
Indeed the match was very crucial and the boys performed well. They made efforts to score against the champion team while defending their goal post. The escalated adrenaline rushing through the players could be seen in the Indian fans who came in abundance even on foreign grounds to support their home-team.
Gurpreet, Captain for the day, also thanked the huge numbers of fans who came to extend their supports for the men in blue. He said, “We had incredible support away from home and that helped us throughout the game.”
