In a huge drug haul involving ‘Indian Heisenberg’, a Telangana-based teacher was recently held at a Bengaluru airport with heroin worth Rs 99 crores. The 52-year-old teacher’s name has not been reported by any prominent news source. According to reports, the accused was arrested with 14 kg of heroin which is worth Rs 99 crores. The part-teacher, part-drug smuggler, had come to India from Adis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Based on tip-off received, the DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) officials were waiting for the accused man at the airport. As soon as the man landed, the DRI officials took him into custody. During luggage inspection, the police found that the accused had stuffed drug packets in false bottom of his trolley bags. The man had hidden the used black tape to conceal the airport security scanners.

During the preliminary questioning, the Telangana-based accused told the authorities that he is a teacher who conducts tuitions for children. A few months back, the accused had spotted an ad online which sought people who are willing to travel in and out of India.

The man struck a deal and turned into a drug mule. A TOI report stated that gangs have been on lookout for Indians to turn into mules as African citizens continue to be suspects by the anti-drugs agencies for such crimes.

Popular drama show ‘Breaking Bad’ chronicles the life of Walter White aka Heisenberg, a chemistry teacher, who turns into a drug manufacturer to make ends meet. Recently, the DRI authorities at the Bengaluru airport arrested Indian Heisenberg, who was in possession of heroin worth Rs 99 crores. The Telangana-based man is a teacher, who turned himself into a mule to smuggle drugs.

Authorities had Received a Tip-Off

According to a TOI report, the authorities received a tip-off that a man in his 50s would be smuggling drugs in large quantities from Ethiopia to India. On August 19, the authorities zeroed in on one such passenger, who was identified as a school teacher from Telangana.

Heroine worth Rs 99 Crores Recovered

The authorities quickly took the man in custody and conducted a search of his luggage. During the search, it was revealed that the man was in possession of drugs covered in black tape to fool the computer scanners.

When the investigators cut open the packets, it was revealed that the man was in possession of 14 kg of heroin which had an international value of Rs 99 crores.

Man Taken into Questioning

After unearthing the evidence, the DRI officials took the accused into questioning and found out that he was a teacher who also conducts tuitions for children. A few months back, the man saw an ad online which sought people willing to fly to Ethiopia and come back as a drug mule.

During questioning it was also revealed that the man had booked a flight from Bengaluru to Delhi to hand over the drugs. According to a TOI report, drug gangs across the world are on the lookout for Indians to turn into mules as African individuals are suspected by anti-drugs agencies.

Accused Booked, Investigation On

According to reports, the man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, has been booked under NDPS Act for smuggling drugs worth Rs 99 crores. The man was taken to judicial custody earlier on Sunday and further investigation is on in the matter.
