Girija Devi Tiwari, who lived in Bina located in the Sagar district, has sadly passed away at the age of 121. Girija Devi Tiwari was the oldest taxpayer in India and was consequently esteemed by the Income Tax Department. As evidenced by her PAN card, she was born in the year 1903 and thus was 121 years old.
On Friday, many people attended the funeral procession of Girija Devi, and among them was Bina SDM Devendra Pratap Singh, who paid his respects to her. Her son, Ghanshyam Tiwari, too offered his tribute.
Felicitated by the Income Tax Department
Giri Devi was receiving pension of her husband, late Siddhnath Tiwari, who was a freedom fighter soldier. Because of that, she was also a tax payer. The Tax Department had also honored her on the 160th Foundation Day of the country as the oldest tax payer.
The World’s Oldest Woman Died in February
The world’s oldest woman died in February at the age of 118. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, France’s nun Sister Andre was the world’s oldest woman. She was born on February 11, 1904. After 25 days, she would have turned 119.
Earlier this record was held by Kane Tanaka of Japan. The record was held by Sister Andre after Kane Tanaka’s death in April last year.
The record for the longest living in the world is also in the name of a French woman. According to the Guinness World Records, Jean-Louise Calment of France lived for 122 years, 164 days. She was born in 1875.
