Details

All popular songs that break all the charts and get viral have one thing in common. Somehow, these songs inspire people to give their own twist to the songs and get popular in tandem. Songs such as South Korean viral sensation Oppa Gangnam Style, Indian cult song Why This Kolaveri Di, and very recently, Sri Lankan hit Manike Mage Hithe, have given birth to their own covers and renditions.

The Facts of the Matter

Seems like Indore is a pool of talents. The land of Devi Ahilya was recently in the news when a influencer from the city took to the city’s busiest intersection and grooved on the song. This led to the authorities giving the influencer a notice.

This time, a doctor is going popular for giving popular Sri Lankan song Manike Mage Hithe a new spin. The doctor, in his own version of the Sri Lankan song, is singing about Indore’s love for sev-poha.

“Manike sounded Manik Bagh”: How Doctor Got Inspired

“I never thought I will write a parody in my life ever and when I tried a day back, it turn out something like this! Whenever I hear this song Manike, the only word that It sounds to me is Manik Bagh, that is a famous location in Indore and I thought when there are hundreds of people making cover of this song why not to make an Indori version!?” The doctor wrote, in his caption.

The song has been enjoyed by thousands of people so far. On Instagram, the song has received acclaim and love of Indoris and has been watched for close to twenty thousand times. Meanwhile, on YouTube, the song has received over three thousand people, so far.

Sev-Poha, Jeeravan, Chappan, & Other ‘Indori’ References Made in Song

The song starts with Pandey giving reference to Manik Bagh – a popular destination in Indore, and a name that sounds similar to the word Manike. Soon, Dr. Akshat gives references to multiple locations in Indore such as Sarafa, Chappan. He also sings about food items such as jeerawan, garadu, neembu, sev and poha.

In 2021, the creators roped in Yohani, a Sri Lankan singer and rapper. And the rest is history. Yohani became an overnight sensation across India and other Asian countries as well.

The song has since then broken the 100 million views mark on YouTube. On Spotify’s Top Viral 50 playlist, the song has established itself and hasn’t been pushed out for months.
