An Indore-based spa was ordered by the court to pay Rs 70,000 to a woman, who suffered having her skin being peeled off during a botched-up bikini waxing session.
According to the victim, she visited the spa for a premium Brazilian waxing worth Rs 4,500 in November 2021. However, things took a horrifying turn when the hot wax was applied to her delicate skin, causing irritation and burning. Despite expressing her concerns, the owner/service provider reassured her that everything was normal and advised her not to worry.
But unfortunately, her pain was far from over! As the strip was taken off, it ripped off her skin, leaving her in unbearable pain. The victim immediately sued the salon owner in court for bad service in January 2022.
Fast forward to April 14, and the Indore court passed an order, demanding that the spa pay a hefty compensation of Rs 70,000 to the victim. The compensation included Rs 30,000 for the damage caused, Rs 20,000 for mental agony, and another Rs 20,000 for the woman’s medical expenses.
The judges asserted that the service provider should have paid heed to the woman’s complaints and not started the waxing procedure before testing the client’s skin for compatibility with the wax.

Beauty is a pursuit that has been ingrained in our society since time immemorial. However, in some cases, this pursuit can come at a cost, and the results can be catastrophic. The recent incident in Indore, where a woman’s skin peeled off after a botched Brazilian bikini waxing, is a grim reminder of how the pursuit of beauty can do more harm than good.
The incident took place in November 2021 when the victim, a resident of Chandan Nagar, visited the spa for a premium Brazilian waxing, hoping to achieve the perfect bikini line. Little did she know that her pursuit of beauty would turn into a nightmare.
Woman Voiced Concerns During Waxing
As she lay on the table, the hot wax was applied to her delicate skin, causing a sharp burning sensation that made her uncomfortable. She voiced her concerns to the service provider, but they reassured her that it was normal and advised her not to worry. With a sense of trust and hope, she continued with the procedure, hoping to achieve the desired results.

Woman’s Skin Peeled-Off, Left Traumatized
But things took a horrific turn when the strip was taken off. Her skin came off with it, leaving her in excruciating pain. The damage was done, and the victim was left with severe injuries that required medical attention. The incident left her traumatized, and she sued the spa owner for bad service in January 2022.

Court Intervenes, Salon Owner Slapped With Rs 70k Fine
On April 14, the court ordered the spa to pay a compensation of Rs 70,000 to the victim. This included Rs 30,000 for the damages caused, Rs 20,000 for causing mental agony, and another Rs 20,000 towards the victim’s medical expenses.
The judges were unequivocal in their judgment and stated that the service provider was required to pay attention to the woman’s complaints. They further added that the waxing procedure shouldn’t have started before the client’s skin was tested for compatibility with the wax.
It should be noted that this is not the first time a beauty salon customer suffered tragic consequences of a botched-up routine. Earlier this year in Karnataka, a bride’s face was left disfigured during a botched-up ‘herbal treatment’, causing her to be admitted in ICU, and her groom calling off the wedding.
