A 30-year-old woman doctor has filed a police complaint alleging sexual assault against a prominent 64-year-old industrialist, the head of a major Indian conglomerate. The allegations describe incidents occurring between October 2021 and January 2022.

First Meeting and Early Interactions

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant first met the industrialist in October 2021 at an IPL match in Dubai. After exchanging contact information, they began communicating via WhatsApp. The industrialist allegedly expressed romantic interest through flirtatious language and requests to meet privately, which the woman claims she rebuffed.

Alleged Sexual Assault Incident

The complaint states that in December 2021, the industrialist booked a hotel suite in the woman’s name and asked her to meet him there. She alleges that he attempted to kiss and hug her without consent. The woman also alleges that in January 2022, the industrialist called her to his office and sexually assaulted her in the bathroom.

Aftermath and Police Complaint

Per the FIR, after the January incident, the industrialist allegedly stopped responding to the woman’s calls and messages. She filed a police complaint in February 2022 but claims she initially faced resistance in registering an FIR. After approaching the Bombay High Court, the Bandra Kurla Police registered an FIR on December 13, 2022.

Accused Denies Allegations

The industrialist has denied the allegations, calling them “baseless.” His company statement said he will fully cooperate with the investigation and has requested privacy as the authorities examine the complaint.

The police have filed the complaint under charges of rape, sexual assault, and criminal intimidation. The Bombay High Court has directed the police to complete their investigation within two months.
