Internet sensation Salt Bae aka Nusret Gökçe opened restaurant with menu prices so high, you won’t believe. Recently same patrons of the restaurant took to Twitter and shared pictures of their bills. One bill, if the images are to be believed, came to a whopping £1,812 (about Rs. 1.80 lakhs). Some normal items in his bill are priced astonishingly high, including a simple Coca-Cola at £18 (Rs. 1,800) and a Red-Bull at £11 (Rs. 1,100).

While one may not know the origins of Salt Bae, any person with decent Internet usage would know that the chef got viral in 2016. Memes of the chef seasoning his meat in a special way opened a new floodgate of memes.

Have you gone out with your near ones to eat out, and when the bill came, your eyes widen as if you’ve looked at something horrific? Patrons at London’s new restaurant Nusr-Et have been having similar experiences lately.

The restaurant is owned by Nusret, a man who got so popular thanks to his meme, he was given a new name by the netizens – Salt Bae. Known for his special way of seasoning his meat, Nusrat’s style was impersonated by people around the world and he became a symbol of swagger.

Salt Bae Opens New Nusr-Et Franchise in London

The meme-capital made him so popular, that he was able to cash in the fame and open a slew of restaurants across the world. The world-famous chef recently took to Instagram and posted a picture on the inaugural day of his new London branch.

“Opened at the heart of the world 23.09.2021,” the caption read.

Menu Leaves Netizens Gob Smacked, Rs. 1,800 for Coca-Cola, Rs. 1,100 for Red Bull!

What followed was several patrons of the restaurant sharing the pictures of their bill on the internet. They are calling out the exorbitant menu that the restaurant has in place and are even comparing it to other famous London restaurants.

According to a bill – the restaurant is charging £18 (Rs. 1,800) for a Coca-Cola, £11 (Rs. 1,100) for a Red-Bull, and £12 (Rs. 1,200) for a small serving of sweet-corn.

“£11 Redbull& £9 coke, and they are without gold flakes?” a netizen commented.

“Honestly this needs to be a wake up call. Absolutely ridiculous to spend this sort of money on a meal it’s just obscene. You are clearly being ripped off, it’s there in black and white to see, No cut of beef is worth £630, You were charged £11 for a can of red bull,” ranted another.

Salt Bae’s Restaurants Has Received Negative Feedback

Interestingly enough, despite all the fame and popularity Salt Bae has garnered, his food has received negative feedback from food critics. Earlier in 2018, his New York steakhouse was labelled “Public Rip-Off No. 1” by Steve Cuozzo.

Popular culture magazine GQ called the steak underwhelming while found the hamburgers at his restaurant overcooked. People also claimed that dishes at his restaurant were as “over-salted as overpriced”.
