The Jharkhand authorities have ordered investigation against Urmila Matondkar who held a program that violated COVID-19 norms. The district authorities of Palamu, Jharkhand ordered a probe into allegations made against the Bollywood actress who allegedly attended a hotel inauguration.

The probe order comes at a time when the experts are claiming that the nation is on the brink of being hit by the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Details

The second wave of the COVID-19 was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and lakhs of people being infected in the nation. From February 2021 to May 2021, Indian healthcare was thrown into bedlam. From lack of beds to states raising alarm for not having oxygen, to other countries sending over essential COVID-19 related supplies to India, the nation came inches closer to having its healthcare infrastructure collapse.

While the nation saw the numbers recede from June 2021, Centre and states asked its citizens to not show complacency and adhere to protocols. However, cases of tourists not following any such protocols and events being organized are common.

Megastar Mammootty and 300 Others Booked for COVID-19 Norm Violation

It should be noted that this is not the first time a celebrity has been alleged of flouting COVID-19 protocol. Earlier this month, Tollywood megastar Mammootty, actor Ramesh Pisharody and a total of 300 other people were booked by Kerala police. The aforementioned group of people attended an inaguration of a medical facility at a Kozhikode hospital, but ended up violating COVID-19 protocol.

According to police-

“Almost 300 people participated in the programme inaugurated by actor Mammootty. We have also registered a case against the hospital MD, COO and others under various provisions of the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Act,”

police told PTI.

The event which was held on August 3 was an inauguration of robot-assisted facility for joint replacement surgery.

Gauhar Khan Tests COVID-19 Positive, Breaches Protocol

In March, 2021, the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) filed a complaint against Bollywood actress Gauhar Khan for violating COVID protocols after she tested positive for the virus.

“No compromise on city’s safety!” the BMC tweeted along with a copy of the FIR. “BMC has filed an FIR against a Bollywood actor for non-compliance to Covid-19 guidelines on testing positive. The rules apply to all alike and we urge citizens to follow all guidelines and help the city beat the virus.”

Although the name in the FIR tweeted by BMC was blurred out, the Mumbai DCP Chaitanya confirmed to Times of India that the actor was indeed Gauhar Khan.
