The team struggled to get its mojo going due to MSD’s inconsistent performances and their spin department. However, as Rocky from Rocky Balboa has said, “It’s not about how hard you get hit, but how hard you get hit and keep moving.” MSD and his men must be eyeing to keep the last year’s performance behind and start afresh.
This year, the team looks quite balanced thanks to return of Suresh Raina, who missed the 2020 edition of the tournament. Although, as discussed in our in-depth SWOT analysis, the team carries lot of big names that have lacked match practice. These names include Suresh Raina, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, DJ Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and Robin Uthappa. However, these names have years of experience behind them and it would be interesting to see whether it reflects or not.
Meanwhile Ambati Raydu and Ruturaj Gaekwad will be expected to give their team a solid foundational start along with the ever-so-reliable Faf Du Plesis. In the bowling department youngster Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, both the bowlers who rocked the English and Aussie boats recently will be talking the bowling duties. Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo too could take wickets at crucial points during the match.

In the IPL fanbase, Delhi Capitals is often referred as the best team to have never won the title. This year, the team will miss captain Shreyas Iyer owing to his shoulder injury. However, the team will most likely see Rishabh ‘Spiderman’ Pant donning the captain’s cap and taking new responsibility on his capable shoulder. Moreover, Rabada and Norje, who were the team’s biggest strength in the bowling department, will be missing the game due to the COVID-19 quarantine rules.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the DC side though. The addition of Steve Smith can help the team immensely and the team already has talented batsman like Rahane, Shaw, Dhawan and Hetmyer.
