Before the mini-auction that will initiate the 14th season of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2021, all 8 franchises of the cricketing fiesta announced the list of the players they retained and released. 

Here is the full list of players retained and released by all eight franchises of the Indian Premier League.  

1) Chennai Super Kings 

Purse Left Before Auction: 22.9 CR 

The MSD-led side had a disappointing outing in the 2020 IPL. The team only won 6 of its 14 matches and finished at the seventh position in the table. Chennai Super Kings retained veteran experienced batsman Suresh Raina while parted ways with batsman all-rounder Kedar Jadhav and spinner Piyush Chawla. 

CSK Retained players: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, N Jagadeesan, Faf Du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sam Curran, Ravi Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma, KM Asif, Imran Tahir, R Sai Kishore, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi. 

CSK Released Players: Kedar Jadhav, Shane Watson (retired), Piyush Chawla, Murali Vijay, Monu Kumar, Harbhajan Singh. 

2) Mumbai Indians  

Purse Left Before Auction: 15.35 CR 

Mumbai Indians will come to the mini-auction as the defending champions of the IPL 2020. The team ahead of the mini-auction retained Trent Boult and released experienced fast bowler Lasith Malinga. Earlier this year, Mumbai Indians under the captainship of Rohit Sharma beat Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets and lifted the IPL trophy for the fifth time. 

MI Retained Players: Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, de Kock, Anmolpreet Singh, Aditya Tare, Chris Lynn, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Jayant Yadav, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohsin Khan, Rahul Chahar, Anukul Roy. 

MI Released Players: Lasith Malinga, Coulter-Nile, McClenaghan, Rutherford, Pattinson, Dig Vijay, Prince Balwant. 

3) Delhi Capitals 

Purse Left Before Auction: 12.8 CR 

Delhi Capitals had an outing to remember last year as they were the runner’s up of IPL 2020. DC bagged 16 points and went on to play Mumbai Indians in the finals of IPL 2020. However, the team was defeated by Mumbai Indians. 

DC Retained Players: Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Pravin Dubey, Lalit Yadav, Chris Woakes, Harshal Patel. 

DC Released Players: Keemo Paul, Sandeep Lamichhane, Alex Carey, Mohit Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Jason Roy. 

4) Kolkata Knight Riders 

KKR Purse Left Before Auction: 10.85 CR 

Kolkata Knight Riders have not made much changes to their IPL team. The team only ended up releasing 5 players and still has 10.85 crores in their purse for the mini auction.  

KKR Retained Players: Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Rinku Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan (c), Pat Cummins, Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy. 

KKR Released Players: M Siddharth, Nikhil Naik, Siddhesh Lad, Chris Green, Tom Banton. 

5) Rajasthan Royals 

RR Purse Left Before Auction: 34.85 CR 

Rajasthan Royals had a terrible outing in the last edition of IPL. The team finished at the bottom of the table and hence is looking to make some new changes in their mix. RR parted ways with Steve Smith due to his inconsistent form and has named Sanju Samson as their new captain.  

RR Retained Players: Sanju Samson (Captain), Manan Vohra, David Miller, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Robin Uthappa, Anuj Rawat, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tewatia, Mahipal Lomror, Riyan Parag, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi, Shreyas Gopal, Mayank Markande.

RR Released Players: Steven Smith, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Varun Aaron, Tom Curran, Anirudha Joshi, Akash Singh and Shashank Singh. 

6) Royal Challengers Bangalore 

RCB Purse Left Before Auction: 35.7 CR 

RCB released Australian limited-overs captain Aaron Finch as well as South African player Chris Morris for their 2021 team. The team will have to make use of their purse well to replace Dale Steyn and Parthiv Patel. 

RCB Retained Players: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe, Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pawan Deshpande, Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson. 

RCB Released Players: Chris Morris, Aaron Finch, Moeen Ali, Isuru Udana, Shivam Dube, Umesh Yadav, Pawan Negi, Gurkeerat Mann.

7) Kings XI Punjab 

KXI Purse Left Before Auction: 53.2 CR 

Kings XI Punjab released veteran Australian batsman and spinner Glenn Maxwell and Jamaican fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. With these two high profile players, Jimmy Neesham and Karun Nair are also released. 

KXI Retained Players: KL Rahul, Gayle, Pooran, Shami, Jordan, Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Ravi Bishnoi, Prabhsimran, Deepak Hooda, Sarfaraz Khan, Arshdeep Singh,  M Ashwin Arshdeep, Porel, Harpreet Brar. 

KXI Released Players: Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mujeeb UR Rahman, Jimmy Neesham, Hardus Viljoen, Karun Nair. 

8) Sunrisers Hyderabad 

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the most unassuming yet lethal teams in IPL. In the 2020 edition of IPL, SRH made it to the playoffs despite getting a slow start initially. This year, SRH has smartly retained players like Natarajan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar along with Jason Holder and more.

SRH Retained Players: David Warner, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, W Saha, Shreevats Goswami, Priyam Garg, Virat Singh, Rashid Khan, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi, Abhishek Sharma, Mitchell Marsh, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddarth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 

SRH Released Players: Sanjay Yadav, Sandeep Bhavanka, Billy Stanlake, Fabian Allen, Yarra Prithviraj.
