A Jaipur-based techie, who seemingly got inspired by Shraddha Walkar case, ended up chopping his aunt’s body in 10 pieces, and then dumped them on a highway. The accused, identified as 32-year-old Anuj Sharma, hit his 62-year-old aunt with a hammer, and then spent three hours into chopping the victim’s body in several pieces. The accused killed his aunt over a quarrel when his father and sister had gone to Indore.

The incident occurred earlier on December 11. In his confession, Anuj made a reference to the Shraddha Walkar case while explaining about how she dismembered the victim’s body. Anuj is a BTech graduate who became a disciple of the Hare Krishna movement. He attended kirtans and was also behind organizing several preaching sessions.

The matter came to the fore after the accused himself took to the police station to file a missing person’s report. While the case was initially investigated as a woman gone missing, later CCTV video showed the accused dragging a heavy suitcase.

Reportedly, the accused chopped off the victim’s body with a marble cutter. He didn’t clean up the scene properly, which showed the tiny shreds of the victim’s skin and several organs lay scattered.

“She used to do ‘toka-taki’ (scolding),” Anuj was quoted by the police as saying in Indian Express.

The Facts of the Matter

As the investigation continues in the Shraddha Walkar case, several similar cases of men and women chopping off a victim’s body, and then dumping them, have surfaced so far. In yet another incident, a Jaipur-based techie, who took a page from the Shraddha Walkar case book, chopped his aunt’s body in 10 pieces, and dumped them near the Delhi highway.

Accused Follower of Hare Krishna Movement

The accused, identified as 32-year-old Anuj Sharma, is a BTech graduate, who started following the Hare Krishna Movement, and organized kirtans and preaching sessions. Earlier on December 11, when his father and sister had gone to Indore, the accused struck the victim with a hammer, and then proceeded to chop her into several pieces. The accused committed the crime following a tiff with his aunt.

What Prompted the Accused to Kill Aunt?

An Indian Express report quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur North) Paris Deshmukh, saying, ‘Anuj wanted to go for a ‘kirtan’ to Delhi, but Saroj asked him to stay back. He lost his temper and hit her with a hammer, killing her.”

He further added that Anuj bought a knife to chop off his aunt’s body. However, when he failed to do so, he went to the market and bought a marble cutter. The case was initially being investigated as a missing person’s case, as Anuj had himself gone to the police to file a missing person’s report.

The Investigation, Interrogation & Confession

However, when the cops checked CCTV footage, they found Anuj dragging a heavy suitcase. Further, Anuj didn’t clean up the crime scene, and blood stains and shreds of the victim’s skin was found at the spot. After he was taken into questioning, the accused confessed to his crime.

In the questioning, Anuj said that he wanted to leave for Delhi for kirtan, and when his aunt asked him to stay, he killed her in a fit of rage. He also mentioned that he lost his mother during the COVID-19 wave.
