In an alarming development, a statement of Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM) terrorist has put Indian security agencies on high alert. The terrorist under police custody during the interrogation revealed how he recced (conducted a reconnaissance operation) at the NSA Chief Ajit Doval’s office. After his statement, security for Doval has been beefed up and he is now among the topmost guarded individuals in India.

During the police interrogation, Hidayat-Ullah Malik, a resident of J&K, revealed an alarming video of him recceing the office of NSA head Ajit Doval. Malik in his interrogation also spilled the beans about his deeds against India.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Hidayat revealed that on March 24, 2019, he sat on an Indigo flight that flew from Srinagar to New Delhi. Hidayat’s sole mission for taking the trip was to conduct a recce at the NSA head’s office. In his reconnaissance operation, he also got his hands on the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) security detail. Malik later passed this crucial information on Whatsapp to a Pakistan-based handler. The report states that the handler’s contact information was saved as “Doctor”.

Hidayat returned back to his hometown in Kashmir by bus. The terrorist also admitted to the fact that he along with another terrorist Sameer Ahmad Dar conducted another reconnaissance mission of the Samba Sector border in 2019. It should be noted that Sameer was arrested on January 21, 2020, for his ties with the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Hidayat also confessed to providing a Santro car for a suicide attack in May 2020. The interrogators have also landed on hard incriminating evidence through Malik’s confession. Malik, along with three other JeM terrorists – Irfan Thokar, Umar Mushtaq and Rayees Mustafa, robbed Rs. 60 lakh from a cash van of J&K bank in November 2020.

Additionally, Hidayat also admitted to several code names, phone numbers and other contact information of 10 of his contacts based in Pakistan. Though two of these contacts have been killed in Shopian and Sopore.

The interrogating officials have said that through the interrogation, Mailk has given the Indian security agencies extensive details about his background. Malik joined Hizbul Mujahideen on July 31, 2019. There he worked as an on-ground worker. Prior to being in Mujahideen, Malik worked for Jaish and after his stint with Mujahedeen, he shifted back to Jaish in 2020.
