This Dharma Productions movie is all about family, love, connections, and the unexpected, and it was just released in cinemas on Friday. Jug Jugg Jeeyo is a clean dramedy since it doesn’t contain any dirty jokes or slapstick fun to make the audience laugh. The makers add a comic touch to every conventional Indian issue. Everything from overbearing aunts bullying newlyweds for the sake of “good news” to a young lady marrying a person she doesn’t love only to get “stable” in life.

The makers add a comic touch to every conventional Indian issue. Everything from overbearing aunts bullying newlyweds for the sake of “good news” to a young lady marrying a person she doesn’t love only to be “stable” in life. The entire story revolves around relationship problems that are difficult to fix yet are handled deftly enough to keep the viewer engaged throughout.

The five-year marriage of Kuku (Varun Dhawan) and Naina (Kiara Advani) is on the edge of collapsing, and Bheem (Anil Kapoor) and Geeta (Neetu Kapoor), the parents of the former, are also in a like frame of mind. There is an extramarital affair and a concurrent plot of Kuku’s sister constantly missing her ex at her mandap. What Kuku will do to integrate his family is the theme of the film? Family love is the most important thing. But in the case of Jug Jugg Jeeyo, maintaining family unity is of greatest priority.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo Review: Script Analysis

The movie doesn’t have too many tedious moments and keeps you engrossed in the bright and tragic circumstances of the Saini family from the opening sequence to the end. However, there is nothing new in Jug Jugg Jeeyo’s script. But at the same time,  Anurag Singh’s narrative and Rishabh Sharma’s dialogues successfully match one another to provide circumstances that will bring you joy, sympathize, and connect with the characters and at last lots of Naach Gaana. Until the filmmakers finally switch on the faucets and let the emotions pour, the two interweaving and conflicting plots are evenly split across the 150-minute running duration.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo Review: Star Performance

Although he overacted in several instances, Varun Dhawan did a nice job overall. Anil Kapoor once again shines above the screenplay to keep the viewer engaged amid the characterization’s flaws. In the brief amount of screen time that she has, Neetu Kapoor delivers a spectacular comeback. Maneish Paul brings spark with his comic timing, while Kiara presents a woman who isn’t sure what else she could do to keep the relationship. Kiara also gave a delightful performance, while Prajakta Koli has fewer dialogue opportunities and she missed to mark an impressive Bollywood debut.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo Review: Direction & Music

In an attempt to combine two movies into one, Raj Mehta gobbled up the plot while also advancing the storyline. Some of the sequences were filmed in the sense that they could easily fit in an Ekta Kapoor daily opera. The soundtrack and conversational tone in the movie are very loud by normal standards. Jug Jugg Jeeyo album is rather average altogether because Duppata is unimpressive and Rangisari features in the rolling credits.

This family drama has a good beginning and a wonderful climax. It could have used a more precise edit because there is a problem with the movie’s runtime. The engaging performances and peculiar dialogues are what really captivate your interest. Jug Jugg Jeeyo has its shortcomings but in the end, it’s all about the family, and this is precisely the kind of clean family film we can watch at least once in theatres.
