After weeks of silence, actress Juhi Chawla opened up about her 5G plea and told public, “Will let you decide if it was a publicity stunt”. The rebuttal comes weeks after she took the Delhi High Court against the implementation of 5G technology, claiming that it is dangerous to humans, animals, Flora and fauna. However, over multiple hearings, she was widely criticized by Indian masses for acting out in pursuit of popularity.

Juhi Chawla VS 5G – A Recap
For the unversed, Juhi Chawla became a social media darling after she filed a suit against the implementation of 5G in India. However, she was dismissed by the Delhi High Court who additionally imposed a fine against her of Rs. 20 lakhs. The Delhi High Court judge had ruled that Chawla and other two plaintiffs “abused and misused the processes of law” which led to a waste of the judicial time.
This led to netizens also dismissing Chawla’s efforts and further claiming that Chawla had filed the plea to stay relevant and seek publicity. On Monday, August 9, the actress took to Instagram and shared details about her decade-long efforts to create consciousness around EMF (electronic magnetic field) radiation.
“Was about time…”: Chawla Breaks Silence
The actress shared an elaborate 14-minute-long video where she went into the details about her issues with 5G and she captioned the video with, “It was about time. I’ll let you decide if it was a publicity stunt.”

Juhi Chawla’s First Fight with Cellphone Radiation
In the 14-minute-long video, Chawla went in-depth into her experiences she had so far where she approached multiple relevant organizations and parliamentary committees about 5G implementation. Chawla also explained how her fight against EMF began. Chawla recalled an incident when she saw 14 cellular towers suddenly popping up in front of her home. This led her into researching more about the harmful effects of radiations and she went on to approach an agency that would help her if she and her family were going to be on the receiving end of the harmful effects of radiation.
The agency then arrived at her place and Chawla said how the meters were registering maximum reading. She also said how she received a report by the agency which went into detail about areas that were most affected by radiation levels.

Giving Presentations, Finding PILs, Making All-Round Efforts
Chawla explained how then she made all considerable efforts such as giving presentations, filing public interest litigations, making efforts to get towers be removed around her home. She also added how 13 out of the 14 towers were illegally installed.

Juhi Chawla’s Statement Regarding Video
Chawla closed the video by telling her followers whether its wrong to be concerned about living organisms around us. It should be noted that along the video, Chawla also released a statement regarding the matter which reads-
“Whatever transpired in June, left me feeling hurt and confused. On one hand, I received some bad press and publicity, on the other, I received heart warming messages from unknown people telling me they were genuinely and completely in support. One such message was from a group of farmers in Maharashtra which brought tears to my eyes, they wished to carry out a voluntary drive to collect a small sum of money from each of their 10,000 farmer community to help me pay the hefty penalty, I had been fined with.”
“I became calm and strong”
The statement further read-
“Moments like these made me grateful that no matter what, I had lent a voice to the health concerns of many, many simple people of my country. When the storm died down, and I could see more clearly, I became calm and strong because I realised what an important, timely, relevant and impacting question I had raised. Had it not been so, would the world have erupted the way it did?!”
