TV show actor Karan Mehra, who’s claim to fame was starring as the perfect husband in the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, was arrested today morning for beating wife. The out-on-bail actor also claimed that his wife is playing the ‘bechari card’ for sympathy and is bipolar and violent in real life.
The incident has been trending since the morning after the actor’s wife Nisha Rawal, took to the police and filed a complaint against her husband following a fight.

According to an ANI report, the Mumbai Police arrested Karan Mehra on Monday night after her wife Nisha Rawal filed a report against him. Acting on the report, the police registered a case against Mehra under the Section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Discussion turns into argument on Wednesday night
Reportedly, troubles between the couple had been brewing lately and last night the fight was taken to an ugly violent turn. The tweet by ANI said, “Actor Karan Mehra arrested after his wife & actor Nisha Rawal filed a complaint in Goregaon area last night. Rawal filed a complaint against Mehra following a brawl. A case has been registered: Mumbai Police.”

Later another update came which said that Mehra is out of jail on bail.
Nisha claims Karan pushed her; Karan alleges Nisha ‘smashed her own head’
According to Nisha Rawal, who also took to the police to lodge assault complaint, her husband since 9-years pushed her against the wall and she hurt her head. Meanwhile, in an interview with the Indian Express, Karan alleged that it was her own wife who ‘smashed her head on the wall’ after the conversation between the couple regarding alimony got heated up. Mehra also alleged that the case was ‘false’.
Karan’s statement regarding the matter
In his statement regarding the matter, Mehra disapproved all the claims her wife made against him and alleged that there were issues in their marriage and the couple was trying to ‘fix things’. Karan reportedly gave a statement saying that the couple has been in a strained relationship where both saw that there was not a reason to continue living together. He further said that he wanted to separate in a civil way so that his son could have a good future.
Mehra’s statement further went on to say that after recovering from COVID-19 he called her wife’s ‘rakhi brother’ to come to his home so that he can assist the couple in coming to a mutual decision. The actor alleged that Nisha’s brother demanded a large sum of money for alimony and Nisha herself gave him a list of things.
Nisha spits on Karan, Smashes her own head
At one point in the discussion, Karan told how Nisha barged in his room when he was speaking to his mother and started abusing him. The actor also shared how his wife threatened him and spat on him. When asked to leave the room, Nisha “smashed her head on the wall”, and told everyone that it was Karan who did the act.
“They also started recording footage on the phone to frame me. Her brother hit me and even threatened to kill me and my family. I am still very weak from my Covid-19 diagnosis and did not even have the strength to fight back,”

“Actually, Nisha has mood swings and violent anger streak. She would throw stuff and hit herself and others. Five-six years ago, she was diagnosed as bipolar. People, including our friends and relatives have seen her behaviour in public and I couldn’t take it anymore,”

The Relationship Between Karan & Nisha
Karan and Nisha were once one of the most charming couples in the television industry that gave their fans a serious #couplegoals complex. The two met each other back in 2008 on the sets of Nisha’s film Hastey-Hastey.
As Karan was working as the stylist in the film, he and Nisha got the opportunity to spend time with each other and their love blossomed. In 2012, the couple finally got married. The same year, the couple also competed in Nach Baliye – a dance reality show where married couples compete against each other.
In 2017, the couple was blessed with their first baby Kavish. The rumours of the couple’s relationship falling apart started appearing in April 2021. Although, Nisha tried to curb the rumours by denying them.
While he was speaking to his mother, Karan shared that Nisha barged in and started abusing him and his family.
“She even spat at me twice and kept saying she will play dirty now. I told her to leave the room and while I was washing my hands, she smashed her head on the wall, and told everyone that I did it.”
