In a horrific incident reported from Karnataka, a Karnataka-based man stabbed a delivery agent over a dispute that arose after he failed to pay for an iPhone he had ordered. The accused man was also caught on CCTV, riding a two-wheeler with the victim’s body, heading towards the railway tracks. The incident was reported from Haasan district’s Arsekere and the accused was identified as Hemant Datta.
The case came to light after a charred body was found near the Anchkoppal Railway station on February 11. The police initiated a probe, and during their investigation, they found that Naik had gone to deliver the iPhone ordered by Dutta near Lakshmipura Layout on February 7. The accused had apparently killed Naik because he did not have the money to pay for the iPhone.
According to reports, the victim, Hemanth Naik, had come to deliver a second-hand iPhone ordered by Dutta. Dutta reportedly stabbed Naik to death when he demanded payment of INR 46,000. The accused kept the victim’s body at his residence for as many as four days before burning it near a railway station.
CCTV footage helped the police to identify and arrest the accused. The E-kart express company has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and has promised to provide all possible support to them.
The Facts of the Matter
Delivery agents face several risks while carrying out their duties, such as theft, assault, accidents, and in extreme cases, even murder. In recent years, there have been several incidents of attacks on delivery agents in various parts of the world, highlighting the need for companies to take the safety of their employees seriously.
In one such incident, an EKart delivery agent was brutally murdered by a man over an argument that arose after the accused failed to pay for an iPhone he ordered.
Victim Worked for EKart Company
According to reports, the horrific events transpired in Haasan district’s Arsekere and the accused in the matter was identified as Hemant Datta. The victim was identified as Hemanth Naik, who worked with EKart delivery service.
The case of the murder of the E-kart delivery partner, Hemanth Naik, came to light when a charred body was found near the Anchkoppal Railway station on February 11.
The discovery led to an immediate police investigation, which uncovered that Naik had gone to deliver a second-hand iPhone to the accused, Hemanth Dutta, near Lakshmipura Layout on February 7.
What Caused the Crime
It was during this transaction that Dutta, unable to pay the INR 46,000 owed for the device, allegedly stabbed Naik to death. The accused reportedly kept the victim’s body in his residence for four days before burning it near the railway station.
When the victim did not return home, his brother took to the local police and filed a missing person’s complaint. An investigation was soon kicked off and with the help of the CCTV footage, the cops were able to nab the accused.

CCTV Footage Surfaces
During investigation, the cops saw CCTV footage, which showed the accused transporting the deceased in a gunny bag on a two-wheeler and heading towards the railway station. Another CCTV footage showed the accused buying petrol to burn the victim’s body and get rid of evidence.
