In a disgusting and blood-curdling incident reported from Kerala, 3 men allegedly raped and murdered a heavily pregnant goat. The police reportedly arrested 1 person involved in the shocking crime while others are still reportedly on run. The incident took place at Kanhangad town, earlier this week and the first arrest was made on Tuesday night.
The accused has been identified as Senthil a hotel staffer and originally a resident of Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, the goat belonged to the same hotel Senthil worked at called Elite Hotel located in Kottachery.
The incident was brought to light when the hotel employees earlier on Tuesday heard some noises coming from the hotel backyard where the pregnant goat was kept. When they reached the spot to check for intruders, they were horrified to see the pregnant goat dead with obvious signs of sexual assault.
The goat was four months pregnant and was set to give birth in just about another month. The police said that if the accused are convicted, they would get an imprisonment for life or at least up to 10 years.
According to the 2020 report of violence against animals published by the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO), almost 5 lakh animals were killed, hurt and raped in India between 2010 and 2020.
The report, which was made with the collaboration of All Creatures Great and Small (ACGS), stated that a total of 4,93,910 animals – both strays and pets – were victim of human cruelty in India. Further investigation of the report can send shiver down one’s spine. The report goes on to show that over 2,300 intentional acts of violence were committed towards animal which resulted in the animal’s eventual demise or an injury that couldn’t be fixed.
The report further showed that out of the all the horrific crimes, 82 cases were that of sexual assault. Furthermore, 400 cases were of brutal beating, acid throwing while 266 cases were that of cold-blooded premediated murder.
The Facts of the Matter
Three men allegedly raped and murdered a heavily pregnant goat in Kerala earlier last week and so far, one accused has already been arrested by the police. The police recently arrested a Tamil Nadu resident Senthil, who worked at a Kasaragod-based hotel called Elite Hotel.
Hotel Staff Hears Bleating Noise
The incident happened earlier on Tuesday this week and occurred at Elite Hotel itself where one of the accused worked at. On Tuesday late evening, the hotel staffers heard bleating noise and commotion in the hotel backyard. When they reached the spot, they were horrified to see one of the goats that was living in the backyard, murdered.
Raped Goat was 4 Month Pregnant
The heavily pregnant boat’s deceased body showed obvious signs of sexual assault. The staffers also saw a man fleeing away from the spot. They were able to identify the man as Senthil who had been working at the hotel since the last two years. It was also revealed that the goat was four months pregnant, and could’ve given birth in the next month.
One Accused Held, May Face Imprisonment Up To 10 Y
The staffers caught Senthil while two other men jumped the wall of the hotel and escaped. The Hosdurg police were instantly reported about the incident and Senthil was taken into custody. According to a New Indian Express report, the accused will be charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty of Animal Act. The police also added that the accused can be imprisoned for up to 10 years.
