In Kerala, the celebrations of Argentina’s world cup win over France triggered spurts of violence, resulting in the death of a teen and injuries to several others. As Messi led his Argentinian teen towards its third World Cup win, and scored two crucial goals, matters got awry in Kerala. What started off as mere celebration of Argentina’s win, ended with several people getting injured, and some miscreants being arrested.
In one of the incidents reported from Palliyamoola, fans of France were allegedly taunted by the Argentina fans, and soon both the sides clashed and had a physical altercation. Six persons were taken in custody after they clashed with each other, causing nuisance and injuries. In two separate incidents in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, cops were assaulted as they tried to control the chaos spilling on the streets after Argentina won the world cup.
In another separate incident, 17-year-old Akshay celebrated the Argentina victory, and later reported feeling unwell. He passed out at the Kollam Lal Bahadur Shastri staidum, and was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Earlier on Sunday, Argentina defeated France 2-4 in the penalty shootout after the match ended with a 3-3 tie after the 90 minutes play and 30 minutes extra time.
The Facts of the Matter
As Argentina eventually lifted the FIFA World Cup 2022, it was party time in Kerala as streets were filled with fans of Les Blues, who were waving the flag of their favourite Argentinian national team and proudly sporting the jerseys of Lionel Messi, the GOAT. However, at one point during the evening, chaos spilled on the streets of Kerala, with several violent incidents being reported.

In multiple incidents, cops were assaulted by a mob of overenthusiastic football fans, and in some incidents, it was the fans who had to be hospitalized following injuries after altercation.
Football Fans Stabbed in Multiple Incidents
During the celebrations, small spurts of violence surfaced from several areas of Kerala. In Kannur, a 24-year-old man was stabbed after returning for home after watching the final. A fight had brorken out after the screening of the match near a sports club, following which the 24-year-old man was stabbed and had to be rushed to hospital.
Two other persons were also reported to be stabbed and critically injured, Mirror Now reported.

Cops Assaulted by Locals
Elsewhere in Thalassery, a sub-inspector was brutally assaulted by a group of violent football fans. The police officer was trying to stop some youths who were over-speeding their two wheelers in the response to Argentinian victory.
In Thiruvananthapuram’s Pozhiyoor, a sub-inspector was injured after being beaten up by locals. The inspector was trying to arrest two drunk fans creating a ruckus while watching the public screening. However, the accused went and chased the police inspector. The accused stoped the cop on the ground and kicked him incessantly, putting him in a hospital.
In Kochi city, another police officer was dragged by a five-member gang. The gang was out on the street in the aftermath of the Argentina win and were creating ruckus as the celebrations continued. The gang dragged the cop after he directed them not to block the road and celebrate.
Teen Dies After Attending Procession
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old youth died in the aftermath of the celebration. The 17-year-old was returning home after taking part in a procession of Argentina fans. The boy complained of feeling unwell, and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
