After Air-India pee-gate, the KSRTC pee-gate incident has shed light on safety of passengers traveling. In the Karnataka’s state-owned bus, a drunk man reportedly urinated on a female passenger’s seat. According to reports no complaints have been filed in the matter, as the woman refused to register a case.

The incident occurred on February 21, and the accused was reportedly drunk at the time. The driver and conductor of the non-sleeper bus attempted to get the personal details of the 32-year-old passenger, but he apologized without revealing any information. The woman, who did not want to file a complaint, found the accused urinating on her seat after the bus stopped for dinner near Hubballi city.

According to reports, the conductor washed the seat with water, and the woman was asked to sit on a different berth. The KSRTC released a statement stating that the incident took place during a scheduled refreshment and nature call break. The crew of the bus gave a 15-20 minute break to inform the passengers, and there were unreserved passengers on berth number 3 and 29.

Passengers on the bus expressed shock at the incident, with one co-passenger stating, “He said he was a mechanical engineer and was traveling from Vijayapura to Mangaluru.”

Earlier in 2022, Shankar Mishra, who was traveling on an Air India flight, allegedly urinated on a 72-year-old co-passenger.

The Facts of the Matter

Unruly drunk passengers on flights and buses have become a growing concern in recent times. These individuals have been reported to create chaos and disturb the peace of other passengers. In some extreme cases, they have even urinated on their co-passengers or crew members, leaving them traumatized.

In one such incident, a drunk passenger aboard a KSRTC bus, allegedly exposed himself and urinated on a female passenger’s seat, without facing any arrests. The incident took place earlier on February 21 this year.

Drunk Man Pees on Woman’s Seat

Earlier on February 21, a woman was travelling from Vijayapura to Mangaluru on a Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus when a 32-year-old man reportedly urinated on her seat while in a drunken state. The incident occurred during a scheduled refreshment and nature call break at Kiresuru Hotel near Hubballi city.

How the Incident Took Place

The KSRTC stated that they took statements from the driver and conductor of the bus and found that there were unreserved passengers in the berth number 3 and berth number 29. The crew gave a scheduled refreshment and nature call break at Kiresuru Hotel at 10.30 p.m. and informed the passengers about a 15-20 minute break, which was when the incident happened.

Upon returning to her seat after dinner, a female passenger found the accused urinating on her seat and raised an alarm. The driver, conductor, and other passengers questioned the man and did not allow him to continue travelling on the bus. The conductor washed the seat with water and asked the woman to sit on a different berth.

Woman Refuses to File Complaint

The KSRTC issued a statement stating that the driver and conductor of the non-sleeper bus tried to obtain information from the accused, but he did not reveal his personal details and apologized. The woman passenger did not wish to register a complaint against the man.

Rajesh Shetty, senior divisional controller of KSRTC in Mangaluru, received information about the incident from passengers and bus crew. “As the woman passenger refused to register a complaint either with us or the police, the crew continued with the journey,” he said.

Accused a Mechanical Engineer

Some passengers said the woman was on seat No. 3, while the man was on seat 28-29. “He said he was a mechanical engineer and was travelling from Vijayapura to Mangaluru,” a co-passenger said. “The bus crew cleaned the bag and the seat immediately and ensured the safety of the woman passenger, who was in a state of shock after the incident,” another co-passenger added.
