Details
The much contentious Farmer’s Law triggered massive protests earlier last year in India, primarily in the Singhu border. The farmer leaders and the government had rounds of talk, all ending in stalemates. The protests continued and soon news of violence breaking out at protest sites emerged.
On 26th January, the farmer leaders were permitted to hold a peaceful rally on a predetermined route. However, the situation turned to absolute chaos when some tractors moved into the heart of the national capital. Within hours, supporters and police were at the sites and soon the clashes led to deaths.
On October 4, almost 9 months after the 26thJanuary violence, another incident happened at the Lakhimpur Kheri district which resulted in deaths of farmer and political workers.
