A day after the news of Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s separation made the buzz, Mahabharata actor also revealed that he had filed for a divorce back in 2019. The actor known for playing the role of Lord Krishna was married for 12 years to Smita Gate. The actor further revealed that the case is in Mumbai Court. It should be noted that Mr. Nitish chose not to divulge details as to what were the reasons of his separation. Reportedly, Mr. Nitish’s daughters are currently living with his former wife Smita, who is an IAS officer, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Speaking to Bombay Times, Mr. Nitish claimed, ‘divorce can be more painful than death’.

The Facts of the Matter

From being member of leading political party to being revered for playing the character of Lord Krishna in B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharata, Nitish Bharadwaj has several feathers in his cap. The actor shot to fame after his appearance in Mahabharata and also starred in Vishnu Puran. Mr. Bharadwaj was lauded with a God-like reverence wherever he went when he was at the prime of his career. However, even Gods or at least actors playing Gods go through a rough patch in their personal lives.

Recently, Nitish spoke to a leading daily and made a bombshell announcement. The actor confirmed that he had filed a divorce back in 2019. The actor was married for 12 years to Smita Gate, an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre. The actor also added that the case is currently in court, and his former wife and their two daughters are living together in Indore.

“You Live With Amputated Core”: Nitish Bharadwaj’s Plight

Speaking to Bombay Times, Mr. Bharadwaj said, “Yes, I filed for a divorce in the Family Court in Mumbai in September 2019. I do not want to get into the reasons why we separated. The matter is in court right now. All I can say is that sometimes divorce can be more painful than death as you live with an amputated core.”

“Uncompromising Attitude, Lack of Compassion, Ego”

The actor further shared that he is a believer in marriage as an institution but that he has “been unlucky”. While the actor chose not to divulge why he and his wife are getting divorced, he went on to add, “Generally, the reasons for the breakdown of a marriage can be infinite, sometimes it’s because of an uncompromising attitude or lack of compassion or it could be a result of ego and self-centered thinking.”

Mr. Bharadwaj is a father of two twin daughters who are currently living in Indore. He went on to add that when a family breaks, it’s the children that suffer the consequences of the break down. “So, the onus is on the parents to ensure that there’s minimum collateral damage that their children have to go through,” he went on to add.

“Relationships Deserve Companionship”: Nitish Bharadwaj’s Thoughts

Back in 2020, Mr. Nitish added a picture on his Instagram where he gave is two cents on how “relationships deserve companionship”. The actor was remembering his parents on his 57th birthday and wrote a heartfelt message on his Instagram. “I have learnt many things from my parents, but one of the most important things I learnt is that relationships deserve companionship. If you can’t give love, care or companionship, don’t get into a relationship. I have taught this to my daughters as well,” Mr. Bharadwaj had written.
