It was a mixed-bag sort of a day for the Waghmare family in Maharashtra after the 43-year-old father in the family passed the Class 10 board exam while his son failed the same. The father-son duo appeared in the Class 10 state board exam earlier this year and the results of the exam were announced earlier on Friday this week.

The father-son duo was identified as 43-year-old Bhaskar Waghmare and his son Sahil Waghmare. According to the data released so far, the overall passing percentage this year stood ad 96.94%.

Mr. Waghmare had to drop out after completing class 7 and take up jobs to make ends meet and sustain his family. However, with a passion to educate himself, he decided to appear for the exams starting this year with his son after 30 odd years. A resident of Babasaheb Ambedkar Dias Plot, Pune, Mr. Waghmare is currently employed in a private company.

“Since sometime, I was keen on resuming studies and doing some courses which would help me in earning more. Hence, I had decided to appear for the Class 10 exams. My son was also appearing for the exams this year, and this helped me,” he was quoted saying.

Sahil meanwhile failed in two subjects and is hopeful to clear them in the upcoming supplementary exams.

The Facts of the Matter

We have all heard of adages such as ‘age is just a number’ and ‘there is no age for learning’. However, a man in Pune Maharashtra proved the adages in the most exemplarity manner. Father of a teenage son, and an employee at a private company, 43-year-old Bhaskar Waghmare recently passed his class 10 board exam.

Meet the Waghmare Family

However, it was not all cheers and sweets back at Waghmare family house as the 43-year-old man, who appeared in the Class 10 board exam after thirty ears, found out that his teenage son failed the same exam. The mixed-bag of a story emerged from Pune’s Gultekadi.

On Friday the Maharashtra Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Class 10 board exam results were declared. 43-year-old Bhaskar Waghmare, who had earlier given up his studies after completing class 7, appeared in this year’s class 10 board exam along with his teenage son.

Picking Up Books After 30 Years

According to reports, Mr. Waghmare had to drop out of school due to financial difficulties. To sustain livelihood of his family, he dropped out of his school and started doing jobs. However, his interest and passion to study more brought him close to the books one more time, and this time, he did not swing and miss.

“Since sometime, I was keen on resuming studies and doing some courses which would help me in earning more. Hence, I had decided to appear for the Class 10 exams. My son was also appearing for the exams this year, and this helped me, he was quoted saying in a TOI report.

How Mr. Waghmare Prepared for Exam At his Age

In his interview to TOI, Mr. Waghmare shared that to prepare well for the exams, he studied every day after the work. While he is indeed happy that he cleared his class 10 board exams, his joys were dampened when he found out his son had failed in two subjects.

“Will not give up”: Son Who Failed in 2 Subjects

Meanwhile, his teenage son Sahil is happy about that fact that his father finally got around to educating himself and cleared his exam. He also said that he is hopeful in clearing the supplementary exams. “I am happy that my father did what he always wanted to do. But, I will also not give up. I will prepare for the supplementary exams and try to clear the papers,” he said.
